Captivate 4 and Captivate 5.5 inconsistent issues with Moodle scorming

Jun 10, 2011 7:31 AM

hi guys, we are having a problem with the Scorming in Captivate.First some background:

Captivate 5.5

- We have a Captivate piece with practice items (using Captivate quiz question slides).  These are set up so that people retake the questions. They are not scored. The only data we want is question answers and NO scores. We want students to see their status of complete (in moodle indicated as a green checkmark) and "in progress" (indicated in Moodle with a orange circle). The problem is that when students complete the lesson, they get the green check mark, but if they don't complete it (go through all screens), they get the red X (which means that they failed).   This issue happens consistently in lessons created in Captiate 5 and 5.5 but it happens in SOME captivate 4 lessons. What is the matter?

Here are screenshots of Captivate 5.5 settings.

Quiz preferences are setup this way

If you're not going to be including any scored objects in your movie there's no point having the Report Data set to Quiz Results, because there won't be any results.

You've got all questions set to be NOT included in the quiz, so they won't get reported, plus you have Report Status as Complete/Incomplete which is used for tracking slide views only.  So set your Report Data to Slide Views Only and set the completion percentage to something reasonable.  Bear in mind that any slide where your user clicks a button to jump to another slide will not be marked as completed by Captivate.  Also any slides in branching scenarios that don't get visited will need to be allowed for in the completion percentage.

If you want to achieve 100% completion despite users not viewing all slides right to the end, you might need to consider the TickTOC widget: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/ticktoc
