Playback only goes for 1-3 seconds then stops and jumps back?

Jul 20, 2011 3:14 PM

After importing a file, I tried to play it back in the source window and even drag and dropped it into the timeline and tried playing it, but it didn't work. It will appear to begin playing, but will stop quickly and jump back to where it previously started. The duration of the playback isn't consistent. I've used many different file types so I don't think it's that. Any suggestions? I'm running a Mac, btw.

Boot in your Root User (secret hidden super administrator account), open PrPro, open your project, play with it for a minute, save it, close it, reboot into your every-day user account, and you'll be good to go... it has something to do with the way Mac reads permissions files, and unfortunately the Root User is the only one that can get it to work right. Once the Root User has opened PrPro and (any) project, it should always work right in your standard user account, unless you have to re-install PrPro or have a major update.

Instead of booting into the root user account, couldn't you simply type the following into the Terminal?

    sudo /Applications/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS5.5/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS5.5.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS5.5

CS Repair fixes permissions problems, so that's worth a try too:

    John (et al):

Funny enough your sudo Terminal script works like a charm for me, but only 1 time.  Every time I close PP, I have to restart it using your script.  Any ideas what could be up?
