what version flash player i have and what version to download

i have an asus eee pc 900 and can't do certain things because i have not downloaded the latest version of adobe flash player

i want to also find out what version i do have - want to know how to obtain that info

also - i do not know what version flash player will work with my computer and i have a linux operating system

if someone can help me out, i'd greatly appreciate it
