Folio Builder preview freezes

Aug 12, 2011 2:06 AM

I've searched the forum for a similar subject, but haven't found one.

The Folio Builder Preview button used to work.

I now have added several articles, and it fails to fire up the desktop viewer.

When I click on Preview, it launches a windows indicating "Verifying content folio 1 on 21" (may not be exactly that in English, I've translated as I'm using the software on a french localized version of InDesign CS5.5) and stays forever that way.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the DPS tools several times.

I have updated every article separatly, everything went fine (and folios' been created).

If it helps, the temporary files in the first article are created then removed - I guess this indicates the first article has been processed - but it does not create the temporary files for the second article.

Next step will be to delete all articles and import them again. But did I mention that Importing several articles doesn't work either? Same problem: progress window sits & waits forever...

Help sought!

Fred

i want to chime in on you, i encounter the same problem on huge folios with

    more than a few articles.

it seems tto stop on folio 1 of X but eventually get it working. or

sometimes not (or i am not patient enough)

I think the folio builder downloads the folio from the server because it

uses the server version, not my local version.

    and that takes forever.

i copied some articles into a new folio to solve the problem and wait not so

    long.

If preview freezes, first try deleting and re-creating the articles, as Johannes suggested. If that doesn't work, the temp .folio files used for previewing may have become corrupt. On a Mac, you can delete the DMP folder at this location:

    [Username] > Library > Preferences > StageManager.[#######] > Local Store > dmp

If you delete this folder, your temp .folio files will be re-created the next time you preview.
