Memory problem while building Double Layer DVD

Aug 14, 2011 11:47 AM

Hi everybody,

I worked many weeks in order to make a good dvd which is about 8.5Go under Adobe Encore CS5.1 (with an introduction movie and several menus)

But the problem is, after the very long transcoding ; Adobe Encore tell me that there's a problem with memory ; in fact "insuffisant memory, save and leave .." is all i can get :/

So I've already made several searchs about memory ; about flash memory and virtual memory, which one i've granted but it didn't change anything :/

However, when I deleted some of the things in order to make a simple layer dvd (4Go) ; all worked and the dvd is done. But I need to have this full 8.5Go Double Layer DVD working ....

so I really need some help ; dont hesitate if you think you could have an interesting idea or maybe The solution =)

I'm working on Windows XP SP2 with a quad core at 2.4GHz (32bits) with 4Go RAM (DDR2)

I've looked how was the memory when Encore told me its insuffisantand here's the result : (with the CTRL-ALT-DELETE)

- Adobe Encore : 1 595 080 Ko

- .....

All together : 1 854 Mo

So, since I' have about 4Go DDR2 RAM , i don't understand :/

And about the virtual memory, I had something like 2000-4000 on the Windows partition (Ive many partitions)

And now i've have 4096-4096 on Windows Partition (where Adobe is installed) and again 4096-4096 on another partition which is on the same hard drive.  (where i put all my works you know). So ive even more than 8Go virtual memory.

I would really appreciate all your help ; Thanks a lot

P.S : I could put a screen of the error message, with everything around, but all is in french. So, if you're still interesting about that screen with none english language, just say it and it will appear ^^

How did you get Encore 5.1 to install on WinXP?

Encore is bundled with Premiere Pro, and I know for a fact that Premiere Pro CS5/CS5.5 absolutely REQUIRE a 64bit operating system

    Anyway, some reading...

As well as the below, right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator... which is NOT the same thing as running the computer with the Administrator account... and which fixes several "odd" problems... and, to create a dual layer DVD, you MUST have Encore set to use the Run as Administrator option

    .
Use Taiyo Yuden single layer or Verbatim dual layer
Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printable dual layer

    8.5Go
    with 4Go RAM

    All together : 1 854 Mo

    4Go DDR2 RAM

On a side note, what's with the o's?  Typical connotation uses a b, either upper or lower case depending.

GB or Gb (Gigabyte and Gigabit)

MB or Mb (Megabyte or Megabit)

    etc.

The maximum addressable RAM limit for ANY application in a 32-bit OS is 2Gb. In reality, it is usually around 1.5-1.8 before you go unstable.

Just because you install 4Gb does not mean you can actually use it, and depending on what graphics & expansion cards you have installed (and the mobo) you may well make matters worse with the additional RAM as this leaves no overhead for cards.

This is why it is unsupported by MS, and always has been.

At 1.8Gb used, you are in the realms of "no more RAM available" and the system will become unstable.

    Why?

Because you have - by installing physical RAM to 4Gb - removed all the addressing space for any expansion cards, system drivers etc.

If you want to use 4Gb of RAM you need a 64-bit OS.
