Where is adobe in mobile

Aug 14, 2011 6:05 PM

I'm just wondering where Adobe is in the mobile space?

Nobody's waiting for Flash on mobile anymore. We want tools that compile to native cross platform or create HTML 5 with native look and feel components.

With the background of Flex, you'd think Adobe be a prime candidate to create tools for this, but in stead Appcelerator and PhoneGap are having your cake and eating it.

Appcelerator is prohibitively expensive and PhoneGap doesn't offer native look ui components. So, come on! Fill the gap!

And this Edge animation stuff, pfff. An HTML 5 tool for advertising banners and campaign sites. Ok, nice, I guess that's needed for the advertising niche.

Now, let's make some real tools. It's about mobile apps now and the time that Flash/Flex could be an application platform is now over.

So, what;s cooking?

Cheers,

Marc

Hi Marc,  We recently released a new version of Flex SDK and Flash Builder that support building mobile applications for Google Android, Apple iOS and Blackberry Tablet OS devices - I'd recommend you download a trial of Flash Builder 4.5 and try it out!  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks,  Andrew Shorten Group Product Manager, Adobe
