    I say September 15, 2011.

Wow, damn close Bill.  Looks like you win the cigar.

And use colors in Text, and allow attachments and the other 5000 things they took away because they don't know how to spam and virus detection programs.

I think that Claudio wins this one. We were scheduled to be back online on the 18th, but the upgrade ran faster than anticipated and we're online on the 17th.

    I am via the web!!!

The forum still does not show the latest post at the top of the list.  I cannot find the button to reverse the sort order.  Perhaps you can sort this out before Monday!

    Regards,

I am seeing this thread (Update Date Pool) as the first item on all three tabs (overview, all, discussions). Which tab(s) are wrong for you?

Did you get a bounce-back or an error? Or just not show up? I just sent an email reply, waiting to see if it shows up.

    Same here.

I'll compile a list of issues that we can look at on Monday morning.

    Thanks!

I meant to be in the thread itself   for example when I click on the thread, I would like to see the latest post at the top so that this one to be at the top:

    <http://tinyurl.com/65lcy4a>

We have also lost the ability to insert code in plain text.   There are very few buttons in the editor window.

    Thanks.

Are you using the inline editor (at the bottom of the page)? Or the Advanced Editor (opens in a new page).

I don't think we've ever had the option to put the latest reply at the top of the thread, it has always been reverse chronological order.

While we're at it, any chance of:

    1. Getting back attachments
    2. It's always sort of bugged me that it's impossible to find the InDesign forum from the top-level page (http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa). Like, Photoshop gets two (one for elements). Seems kind of unfair, especially since the InDesign forum here is so excellent.

I guess I am using the inline editor.  For example this is what I see in the thread:

    2011-09-17_2304.png

What I prefer is the latest message to be at the top.  I think this is called top posting in the old newsgroup terminology.  This means the above list to be reversed.

It is not called that, no. "Top posting" is the practice of replying to an email thread with the response (often brief) at the top, and the entire remaining message quoted below, as part of your message. (Again: quoted)

Those who use the term typically use it negatively, as something to be avoided, though what is appropriate depends very much on the forum. See the wikipedia article for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_style.

Viewing a thread in reverse chronological order is something else entirely.

The forums are working today September 18, Chile´s National Day. If I didn't predict the date 100% accurately, at least I was the closest by far. So, when do I get my prize?

Congrats, JC&Co. At least, until I try how things are working...

And formatting is back!!! (would it be too much to ask once more to set the default font to this Verdana or another screen-friendly, easy to read font?)

Claudio got the closest. He predicted the 18th and the updated started the 18th.

Although I predicted sometime between start of the thread and June 30th 1912.

The Adobe-Admin owes him the most expensive Steak dinner at the Angus Barn in Raliegh, NC. All expense paid for Tansportation and overnight stay at the closiest Motel.

I've ate there once and steaks were so tender you could eat them with a spoon.

Well, I would guess that John C. will invite Claudio to the Official Adobe Cafeteria (San Jose, CA, USA) for the Friday Maine Lobster Lunch. However, Claudio might have to pick up the plane ticket from Santiago.

    Way to go Claudio!!!!

    Phillip,

I predicted sometime between start of the thread and June 30th 1912.

Wasn't that the date of the nomination of Woodrow Wilson?

    Hunt

[Edit] No, that was a few days before. June 30 was the date of the deadliest tornado in Canada, which hit Regina. Hey, almost the same thing, just different countries, though joined by a common border.

I gave a specific date, while you gave a week long range, and others gave even ampler ranges. But if you think that you have better rights for the prize, I'll gladly resign to it in your favour, even though my bet now appears embedded in the opening message and prominently marked as the Correct Answer... In any case, I would't be in a position to pay for my journey to the USA and back to receive a free breakfast or a tin medal...

    Obviously, Claudio is the winner.

    Halfway between the 15th and the 22nd is the 18th to 19th (or 18th and a half): 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22.

    Claudio,

For YOU, we might be able to take up a collection for that airline ticket, or maybe I can pledge some of my United Airlines "Miles" to that endeavor. Even if UAL does not fly to Santiago, I will bet that one of their "partner airlines" does.

In the meantime, this star is for you!

    Very many thanks, Bill. However:

    • I am certainly not a HERO who deserves that his peers collect the money to pay for his round trip to receive a still unknown prize.
    • There seem to be others who think they have equal or better rights than I do for the prize, while I don't think the matter even deserves been discussed at all. I am quite willing for anyone else to get it, if s/he thinks s/he deserves it.
    • And I couldn't think of a better prize for having guessed more or less rightly than the star you have awarded me (although it would be better without that "HERO"), plus the support I have received here from several of my peers as an added and most welcome bonus. My warmest thanks to all of you.

And I do not need or expect any other prize.

    Just in case: .
