Keeping bevels on flattening image

Sep 15, 2011 1:42 AM

I can't flatten or save a Jpeg from a PSD without losing bevels. I know you can save as a PDF but for some reason I get errors trying to save so a PDF option is out.

Is there a way to preserve bevels on flattening?

Cheers

Are you talking about the Layer Style Bevel and Emboss?

Because then there should be no reason why the image should not be able to be flattened.

    Could you post a screenshot?

    No it doesn't.

But it might look different to you before and after you flatten if you're not viewing it at 100% zoom.  The reason for this is that Photoshop's layer combination and image resizing logic are optimized for speed.  Thus the advice is always to preview effects at 100% zoom to be sure they look the way you want.

The difference will be less if you use OpenGL Drawing (Photoshop CS4 and CS5 only), but the layers are combined together at 8 bit depth (unless you do something very special) so there can still be a difference.

Always preview effects at 100% zoom.

And I suspect you may have found out wrong – did you view the image at View > Actual Pixels when flattening.
