I just downloaded the trial version of PSE 10. I see a spot where I have a choice of about 10 different funky frames, but nowhere to add a simple black border to photos. Am I missing something here, or is it not possible? It's the main reason I'm considering buying the program, so if it's not a feature, I'd like to know it. Any help is really appreciated.
One way is to use the "Basic Black 10px" frame. Double-click on it to apply to the photo, then you can resize the photo to your liking. Afterwards, double-click the "fx" icon to the right of the layer and you can remove the drop shadow that was automatically added, as well as adjust the size of the frame and its colour:
Another way is to simply use Select...All, then use Edit...Stroke (Outline) Selection and choose the colour and width of the stroke. Use the "Inside" Location option for the stroke.

You can open your image in Full Edit the select the content tab and choose the frames section.
Select the move tool and drag any frame on to your image in the main window.
You can also create your own custom frames using brushes and a layer mask.

I downloaded the free trial version for Mac...but I thought I read that I would be getting everything I'd get with purchased version. I was trying to insert a screen shot here, and I noticed at the top of the screen it says "adobe photochop express editor". Maybe that's the problem. I'm sorry guys...this is my first try at photoshop so I'm making a mess of it. It says I downloaded elements 10 on my desktop, but am I not opening the right thing? I'm so confused now.
Photoshop Express has it’s own forums for iPad, iPhone, Android and the cloud based application on the web.

Report back with your progress, please.
Ok...totally starting over here. I realized I was never in elements at all. I needed to go into my application folder and get to it that way instead of using the link in my email.
I now found frames, and will try to figure it out.
I might be back later, with more questions, but at least I'm looking at the right thing now.
TY all! (And please don't go too far!)

Hello,
I don't want to derail this thread but I am very new to PSE and have a question?
In the photo in reply #1, two tabs are showin and mine only shows one. I have the Effects tab but not the Content tab. Is there somewhere I need to go to be able to view that tab?
For the record, I just finished a 30 day trail of PSE9 and purchased PSE10. Neither version had Content as a choice in my edit screen.
TIA,
Patty
You can make a simple black border by extending the canvas size e.g. by one inch or whatever you prefer.
1. Open your photo in Full Photo Edit
2. Click Image à Resize à Canvas Size
3. Change the dimensions by + 1 - in my example I would type 5.167 x 3.7778 or change the dimension dropdown menu to centimetres and add 1 cm.
4. Select color black at the bottom of the dialog
5. Make sure the anchors point in all directions.
6. Click OK to surround by a black border on all sides.
