If you realy feel 'lazy' or have no idea what settings to choose you can drag the clip the into the New Item icon. This will create a matching sequence.

These ideas do not work for Premiere Pro 5.0.3.

If I drag the file to the New Items button nothing happens. (symbol = circle with slash through it)

If I select a new sequence, or adjust the sequence settings upon creating a new project there is no "Settings" tab. However there is a "General" tab with the same pull down menu called "Editing Mode:". But, there is no option for "Custom" in the pull down menu list.

At one point I was manually adjusting the width and height in Premiere Pro options...but my changes were ignored.

This has not been an issue for me for years as I was always importing 720 or 1080 sizes. But i'm now bringing in older video and need it to be the correct size. (e.g. 512x384 @ 25fps)

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I did. I didn't see any difference. Default still seemed to be stuck at 720.

Hmmm...okay, well when I did it from "File/New/Sequence/General/Editing Mode/Desktop" there were black bars around the frame...as if the sequence or video was not the proper size. (even though it said it was)

But when I started a new project and selected "Desktop"...the same video filled the frame. Strange.

At least it works now. Thanks.

I am having the same problem here. I need to make a video of specific dimensions and can't figure out how to get Premiere Pro to accept the dimensions I put in. I try setting a custom frame size for the sequence and Premiere Pro overwrites it no matter what I do. Please help.
