Dialog Box Problems

I am currently using CS5.5 on my Windows 7 machine.  When I first installed, Illustrator ran fine until I tried to open any kind of dialog box.  I only see the top of the dialog box across the top of my screen, but the dialog box is so large that when I click and drag the top, there is no end in sight.  This dialog box is completely blank.

 

So, I thought I would try to reinstall it.  I reinstalled it.  Illustrator's dialog box is fine now, but Acrobat is having the same problem now, but not the other programs.

 

Does anyone know what might be causing this?
