I'd also like to see integration with blogging tools such as MetaWeblog API etc.

    One more for the list:

    5. When using Buzzword with text comming from coding, with several spaces, line breaks, tabs, etc; copying the text from Buzzword and pasting it elsewhere seems to remove dupilcate spaces, line breaks, etc. Can that be changed in the future to keep the pasted text as close to the original as possible?

A feature which would allow others to sign off on a document or indicate their approval of a document would be very useful. Further, the ability to do this on multiple levels - ie. I have three people who need to sign off on a document in a particular order. (The option of no particular order would be great too!)

I am also wondering if there is a feature where forms can be filled out and submitted back with information filled - allowing the individual accessing the document to only modify the form fields. This is something else that would be handy...

Two things would make this a dream application..

1.> Ability to insert images into the header and footer sections.
    2.> Folders to organize documents.

    1) Ability to see what has changed between versions. This is critical when documents are shared and modified by a group.

    2) Document outlining.

    3) Optional e-mail/sms notification when a document has been updated

    4) I miss heading numbering 1.1, 1.2.3, etc that automatically updates.

    5) Some sort of Visio-like shape editor for shared editing of embedded diagrams. A picture is worth a thousand words you know.

    6) Free-form header and footer sections.

    7) TOC generation

    8) Named styles

Killer app even without the above. Thanks!

If you gave me the ability to double space the text, I'd give up using Word altogether.

    I've got a good one.

I was deleting some old stuff off of my hard drive today, and I accidently opened a word document.

As a waited for Word to open so I could close it, I got to thinking: wouldn't it be cool if you could just click a document on your hardrive or do something with it, and it would be exported to Buzzword?

It would probably require a little program to be installed on ones computer, but I would love it, as others would, I am sure.

    Thanks!

    -Dominick

To double-space text, open the Paragraph pleat and select the icon for double spacing. This will apply double spacing to all paragraphs that you have selected (partially or completely). There's also a setting for 1.5x spacing.

Done! We've added Canadian and U.K. English, along with many more. Please let us know how the new dictionaries are working for you.

We will support import in a later release.

In case you have not seen the new features in our July 14th release, you'll be happy to know that we've included spell check dictionaries for 19 languages - including UK-English. So, when you type colour with the UK English dictionary turned on, it will be shown as spelled (or spelt) correctly.

Here's a link to more info in our Blog

I love buzzword for being effective and simple, so I would not try to clone MS Word.

However, basic options to put a diagram in a document would be great!

I use Buzzword for nearly a year now, and i must say its very handy.
And finaly it supports german dictonary, which i missed most, compared to offline programms.
There is only one feature i wish you could add to the spell checking programm.
Until now it is not possible to skip one word only once in a document. There are situations that request to misspell a word, to show a failure for example, only once in the document.
It would be nice if you could add the possibility to skip single words in spellchecking. (Maybe with a new button in the cerrection-drop-down-menu "skip word", or something)

Given all of the non-text non-word processing documents that travel as pdfs, I am not surprised that you don't support importing PDFs. Though if you do at some point, please be sure to include the comments/annotations that acrobat supports.

Not really part of this comment, but "smart quotes" would be nice. As would basic math shapes.

If I share a document with a person and give them read privileges then it would be nice if they couldn't export except to pdf. It kind of defeats the purpose if the can export to Word document and change the document as they please. Also if they are reading the document and it changes it while they are reading it then there should be a notification or maybe the revision should show in another color. Just a suggestion.

I've sent feature requests I want by email before, nut another that would be nice is the ability to minimize comments. They are really distracting when reading through and you just want to get the content not all of the comments.

I know this is a minority request, but I'd like to see Export/Import of Apple Pages files.
Also, I'd really like a standalone, desktop version that integrates with the browser/cloud version.

Just to reinforce what others have already asked for, two things I'd really like to see:
    1) Email/RSS notification when a shared document is edited;
    2) The ability to count the number of words in a highlighted section.

    Thanks!

    Double-clicking on text is broken.

Sure, you can "double-click" on a word, but it doesn't work like double-clicking in any other app I've ever used. The word is selected on the second mouse UP event, not the second mouse DOWN event, which is the standard. Also, you can't (because of this strange implementation of double-click) do a double-click-drag to select a range of words.

Try double-clicking (and dragging) on text in this message to see what I mean... then compare that with the behavior in Buzzword.

    comments

so a collaborator adds a comment - like - please delete this 10 words in a sentence
i agree but if i delete any words that are linked to the comment - i lose the comment

i would prefer that i can somehow deselect a lock icon on the comment bar (same size as trash icon is currently?)
and keep the comment as a record of the feedback. at the moment my workaround is to keep one letter from the locked words and thereby keep the comment bubble

Great idea and BUZZ is cool to work with. Following features would be good:-
    * Aligning the text/content alignment facility - Left, Center, Right and JUSTIY
    * Email the document directly from BUZZ word
    * More fonts
    * Save the (edited) document directly to desktop
    * Document Templates
    * Read-only view for document (this must be default for any document, but must be overriddable for individual document)
    * Editing - Change case and such

I imported my first document from Word into Buzzword and immediately ran into a problem. Is there any way to place images and/or text over another image (no text wrap)? Very important to be able to do from a graphic designer's point of view.

A reply for DevCloud's comment: "I've sent feature requests I want by email before, nut another that would be nice is the ability to minimize comments. They are really distracting when reading through and you just want to get the content not all of the comments."

Our response: In the toolbar, there is a Comment icon, and a set of tools. Click the "Show Comments" icon. This allows you to hide the comments while you're reading. You can then click again and display (show) the comments.

When printing, there is an option on the print dialog that allows you to print comments or to turn them off for printing.

After playing around with this a bit, I can see the potential in it. I like the feel to it but for me, as someone that writes full time, it is missing one critical element that every online word processor so far is also missing: smart quotes. Hash marks or straight quotes, as they are sometimes called, are all well in good in an every day setting yet not in a more professional one. Having the option to at least turn on smart quotes is an option that should be in every respectable word processor whether they are desktop aps or online versions, imo.

    2. The collaboration element needs some work. What is being offered currently is a good start but real time collaboration is what many are looking for, myself included. Not being able to edit something two pages up, while someone else is working on another part of a document is a large drawback in terms of collaborating. It is also a waste of time to twiddle your thumbs waiting while half the point of collaborating in a synchronous environment is to save time. (Be it a fully synchronous environment or one that is semi synchronous)

    3. A full page working environment which may exist but as of yet I have not found. The zoom function is nice to a point but in order to get the working background to cover the entire page (without having a huge gray right hand sidebar) I have to zoom to 300+ percent which then turns the font and actual working area into a workspace that borders on absurd. Having said that, I quite like look of Buzzword when hitting F11; I just also want a full document page background to work on to boot. If I've missed this feature somewhere, please accept my apologies and disregard this part.

    Some excellent suggestions, boston12345.

For suggestion 3, a ruler and spacing tool already exists. In Buzzword, near the top left corner (under the font selection) you will see a small teal-color box. Mouse over that, and it will give you the option to expand the ruler and you can control indent and paragraph spacing.

    A couple of additional feature requests;
    1. some way to easily select sentences. These are the building blocks of paragraphs and should be easy to do. While we are at it, easy way to select paragraphs and parentheticals. Maybe even an awareness of other relevant punctuation-based sentence subsets (e.g. clauses after a comma or comma separated lists).
    2. smart quotes, quick entry of em- and en-dashes.
    3. Revert imported graphics to their original size.
    4. Uncluttered Full Screen Mode.
    5. better header and footer. I don't really like having to specify fields in the header/footer dialog only to delete and replace them with my text.
    6. page X of Y as a primitive footer insertion
    7. some way to store images for reuse in subsequent documents.
    As ever thank you...

p.s. I have run into some problems inviting people to share collaboration on a document and being told that their IT security policies do not allow installing the necessary software. Having the error messages that are thrown in those cases be more explicit about what (minimal) next steps are required would be helpful. As I am successfully using BuzzWord I don't exactly know what problems they are running into and so don't have a good suggestion for them.

I'm just getting started with Buzzword, and things look promising. Immediately, however, I noticed something that I would like to see implemented.

While I see a Word Count feature, it would be very helpful if, by rolling your cursor over the area, you could also see pages, characters with and without spaces, paragraphs and lines. These are all statistics I use as a freelance editor and writer for a number of reasons.

    Thanks!

Hello, Can a feature be added whereby one can create a PDF form in Buzzword that has fillable areas which can be shared with others by either sending a link to a specific party, or by embedding a link on a website? Thus, enabling the form(s) to be filled out on-line, and then automatically submitted by having the user click on a "done" or "submit" button? And, once the form is completed, i.e. "filled in" by others, could it be automatically forwarded to the author's account in a secure way with identifying info. such as time and date of completion? And, could simultaneous notification be made to a designated e-mail address that a submission has been made? And, could the fillable form(s) be made available in such a way that they cannot be be altered by the receiving party?

Is it possible to download buzzword for use on pdas and whatnot? I have an archos 605 wifi which has the ability to run flash 9 applications. Having this application on there would be really useful as I could use this at school to take notes and work on documents that I have created at home. The device is web enabled, but I was wondering whether there was an offline version that could be downloaded.

    Suggestions:
    1. Folders to organize documents
    2. Ability to have/save Preferences.
99% of my documents are not for editing. The default email notification is for a "Co-author"; for me this would be a "Reader" preference. Already I've mistakenly sent out notifications to view a document as a co-author rather than just a reader.

    3. Ability to import Adobe's own PDF documents. I find this scenario rather unbelievable. I've spend hundreds of bucks on Adobe AcrobatPro 9 to produce PDF documents, and then I'm unable to import them to Adobe's BuzzWord. These are documents I do NOT want altered by others. What's next? -- Microsoft's Word won't accept ".doc" documents -- only PDFs? ;-[

I would like to change the height of the header and of the footer in a document. I didn't find this feature in this version! Many headers needs to have a trademark of the responsible companies by the document!
