Contact sheet messing with file names?

Does anyone have any idea why CS3's contact sheet feature would totally mess with file names when creating a contact sheet?  I only useCS3 to do contact sheets,but i cannot get it to act normally to make contact sheets when i have more than about 30 images on a sheet. the sample i show here has files saved with names like, town farm reflection1,and as you can see,i get a strange set of characters at the end. anyone can offer ideas,i am all ears.

    In case anyone comes along to reply, It does not matter wether the files are already open, with the correct file names or are being pulled from the hard drive. messes them up,either way.

    did you process these in Capture One? CS3 always mangled long filenames for me coming from Capture One.

    i've dealt with this for awhile, very frustrating.  - CS5 doesn't mangle the names.

    No.everything done through photoshop. how exactly do you make a contact sheet in cs5?

    With Bridge or one of the available contact sheet Scripts.
