Dec 9, 2011 9:14 AM

Will PM 6.5 run on W98 in Windows 7 by using Virtual Machine?

Thanks.

    Couldn’t tell you.

I can tell you that it’s likely not going to be an ideal situation and moving into the 21st century with InDesign is a far better choice.

The only way to find out is to try it. Just because it works for one person is no assurance that it will work for you.

That’s simply the way it is. The fact that your employer is willing to spring for a new computer tell me you should be able to wrangle another $192 out of them for a PM to ID upgrade: http://amzn.to/qEsjBZ

After all, the virtual machine and Win 98 aren’t going to be free.

Don’t throw good money after bad.

    Just my $0.02,

Not quite the same, but I have PM7.01 running on Windows ME in a VM with no problems. And it costs nothing, since VM software is free and I have ME from a long-since retired computer.

What version of VM is free? Windows virtual PC requires an ungrade to windows 7 professional. Is there a viable e alternative out there.

Unless you have purchased it as a separate upgrade, your copy of  ME may not be legal to run on a different machine, many of those licenses are tied to specific machines.

    Free VMs:

    Windows Virtual PC

    VMware Player

    VirtualBox

I have used the first two with success. I have not tried the third.
