make blue tint over pictures

Hi,

everytime i wonder how picture do to make their picture having the same tint over their pictures...

for example i have picture in Black & white color, or in colors and i would like to make them like everything is blue... basically i would like to create something like a blue filter in order to make them "blueish".

how can i do that ?

One way is to add a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and check the colorize checkbox. Then adjust the hue slider to the color you want. You can save the setting as a preset to make it easily accessible for other photos. (See before and after sample.)

Another way is to fill a new layer with the colour you want, and set the layer blend mode to Color. I think I would use the previous poster's Hue/Sat adjustment layer method myself though.

Great suggestions so far.

Try also the Tint feature in the Image - Adjust - Black & White, or Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Black & White.

The nice part about using an Adjustment Layer is that you can adjust the color of the tint, opacity of the layer - virtually EVERYTHING - until you get it looking just right.

If you combine either technique with a black and white adjustment layer with the blend mode set to overlay at 20-30% then the image really pops and has more contrast. Try it and you'll love the results.
