Anybody else get a virus detection installing LR4 Beta?

Jan 10, 2012 9:42 AM

Norton Internet Security quarantined 2 files just after I installed the LR4 Beta, based on heuristic malware characteristics, both in the support\dynamiclinkmediaserver\dynamiclinkmediaserver\1.0 subfolder in the install location: qtparser.dll and mc_enc_mpa.dll.

I have yet to run the program without these files. Anybody else run into this?

Yes, I'm also running Norton IS and it also removed what it said was a virus in both those DLLs.

Here's the output from NIS on the first one:

Full Path: c:\program files\adobe\adobe photoshop lightroom 4\support\dynamiclinkmediaserver\dynamiclinkmediaserver\1.0\qtparser. dll

I have no idea if these are legitimate or not, but I can at least confirm what you're asking.

    The question is, now what?

Microsoft Security Essentials didn't let out a peep when I installed. False positives aren't unknown in the anti-virus business...

    Thanks for the tip DJB!

I'm with you, I'll run without it until I've heard otherwise, at least in the beta version.

Norton AV puts the file into quarantine. Had to manually mark it safe. In no mood to troubleshoot, will try out LR4 first and then worry about the file.

I just installed LR4 and got the message from Norton Internet Security 2012.  I went ahead and ok'd it to install.

Just wanted to confirm that the files you cite are ok, and are needed for video import in Lightroom 4.
