Hi
I am experiencing something strange, I think.
I am on PPRO 5.51 on windows 7, i7 990X, 12 GB RAM, GTX 470, several disk's etc. Hardware MPE enabled
I have a PAL DV WS timeline with both AVCHD footage (scaled to fit) and some DV WS AVI's, mostly the AVCHD clips, and the DV WS AVI's as cutaways.
The duration is 30 min.
If I render to DV WS AVI PAL it takes aprox. 8 min.
If I render til FLV 512 x 288, it takes aprox. 9 min.
If I render to MPG2 DVD PAL, it takes 1 hrs.??
Im I doing something wrong, or what could this be?
As far as I remember, the rendertime for MPG2 was shorter in a previous ver 5.x?
Thanks
/Ulf
Hi Ulf,
I don't believe these things should affect the encode time, but a few suggestions.
1) Do you use Encore for the DVD authoring? If so, Multiplexing should be set to NONE. I see that the output format is .mpg, this should say .m2v when Multiplexing is off. Encore prefers the .m2v and .wav files, else it will need to DeMux and transcode everything again (more time, quality loss).
2) For a short program like yours (28 minutes), no need to use VBR. I would suggest CBR and a data rate of 7 or even 8 for best quality. And set Quality slider to 5, I see it is at 4,5 right now.
