video position

I scaled a video clip so it was bigger then the screen. Then I used the pen tool, I clicked and dragged the mouse and went outside the composition panel. This moved the panel over, so I was wondering if there was an easy way to get the panel centered.

    Um, adjust it by typing in the correct horizontal & vertical values in the POSITION property, perhaps?

    ..or use the Alignment Panel controls  - Centre Vert and Horiz.

    Right click on position and select reset will center the layer in comp space.

    Basically what I'm trying to do is know where the composition panel borders are. Like how in illustrator you have the outline of a rectangle.

    Well, this isn't Illustrator.  This is After Effects, a completely different application.  It doesn't work the same way, and hand-holding is a waste of time for both you and us.  You really, Really, REALLY need to pay an extended visit to this page.
