Adobe Flash Media Server on Amazon Web Services - Stream not viewable with audio

Tags:I'm in the process of trying to setup a live streaming solution using Amazon's Flash Server on AWS (and FMLE 3.2 as the live encoder).
I followed Amazon's tutorial here and have got video working perfectly:
With video only (Audio checkbox NOT selected in FMLE), everything works great. However as soon as I try and stream with audio, the stream is no longer viewable on the OSMF player. There is no error, but the playback window remains black.
I have tried every combination of audio settings I can thing of in FMLE - AAC versus MP3, differing bitrates, mono versus stereo, etc, but the symtoms remain identical - a black playback window in OSMF player. On the FMLE side, everything looks fine - video and audio are encoded and are streamed to the FMS without error.
If I untick the audio and restart the stream, the video re-appears!
I'm new to FMS so I've no idea where to start. I've looked through the documentation, but can't see anything that might point to why this is issue occuring 
Any thoughts/pointers most gratefully received!!
