Bookmarking - does the bookmarking feature work on all books?

I have downloaded my first book on Digital Editions (a university text) and I cannot use the bookmarking feature. Do some books restrict such features? Or is this just a problem with the running of the software?

Bookmarking only works if you add the book to your ADE Library, but will work on all books in the Library.
