Branching - Best Practice ?

Mar 2, 2012 3:46 AM

Captivate v5.5

I am about to edit an existing project that will involve Branching - something I have not done before.

My existing project is 30 slides and I want to add 2 new sections each 10 slides.

The "branching" will start from slide 5 (example) and then all will end up on the same single final slide to close the project.

Do I add the "new" slides that will be part of the branching just before the final slide to the project - or is there a smarter / correct way to do this ?

Anyhelp/guidance welcome.

Noel

If the branching slide is slide 5, start one branch at slide 6 and the other one at slide 16.  Keep your branches as close as possible to the branching slide, don't put the new slides for the branches at the end of the project because at runtime that would force all slides between the branching slide and the start of the first branch to be rendered before the branch could begin to play.  That might result in a noticeable lag.

    Hi Noel,

Do you have my menu template? There is branching in it.

    Template for reusing script

No, normally this should work, at least if the three click boxes are not physically in the same location on the slide. In that last case only the top most on the timeline will be functional. How did you define the Success action for the click boxes. Perhaps post a screenshot of your timeline for that branching2 slide.
