Can snippets made in InDesign CS5 be placed in a CS4 document?

    It msy depend on what's in the snippet, but It worked here in my experiment. Did you try before you asked? What happened?

    When you did that, did you get an editable object or just a graphic of it?

    Editable, which surprised the heck out of me. I grouped a text frame, graphic, and shape, and was aboe to ungroup and work with all threee in CS4. I didn't use any unsupported features.

    Well, that is interesting, but I’m going to guess that the snippets are just a form of IDML so if that’s the case I guess it would make sense.

    I think that's probably the case -- the extension is, after all, .idms.

    My bet would be that if the snippet included a placed page from a CS5 or later document it woud actually crash CS4.
