Negative Highlights brighten the image instead of darkening

This is happening in Lightroom 4 final and is possibly related to this issue: Re: Brightening shadows darkens highlights Brightening shadows darkens highlights.

Start with a fresh image
Set Whites to a highish value, like 55-60 or better 100.
Slowly move the Highlights or Shadows slider to the left

The image gets brighter even it is supposed to get darker. If you move Highlights to the positive side, the image gets darker.

Clarity also has this side effect.

Yep, Eric confirmed it's the same issue.

And it's not being considered a bug. But when the sliders do the opposite of what the're supposed to, even at extreme settings... dunno.

Certainly not desired behavior from a user standpoint.

But, no point in considering it a bug if you don't plan to fix it - that would be like a drunk considering himself an alcoholic when he doesn't plan to quit drinking - what would be the point .
