Fireworks and Extension Manager don't see each other

I have Fireworks CS5 Version 11.0.0.484.

 

I have Extension Manager CS5.5 Version 5.5.163.

 

All this on OSX Snow Leopard.

 

Fireworks isn't listed in Extension Manager.

 

From within Fireworks, when I go to Commands -> Manage Extensions..., nothing happens.

 

When I double-click on an MXP file containing a Fireworks extension, I get "This extension cannot be installed, it requires Fireworks version 9 or greater."

 

What are the troubleshooting steps I should follow?

    Your version of the Extension Manager should match the version of the product you are extending. You have to install Extension Manager CS5 to manage extensions for Fireworks CS5. Please go to http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/em50_download.html to download and install Extension Manager CS5.

    I am licensed for CS5.5 Web Premium.

     

    But there is no Fireworks CS5.5, is there?

     

    So do I need to run *both* versions of Extension Manager, using one to manage extensions in the CS5.5 apps, and the other to manage extensions in the CS5 apps?

    CS5.5 Web Premium includes Fireworks CS5.1. There is no version CS5.5 for Fireworks.

    Yes, You need use Extension Manager CS5.5 to manage extensions for CS5.5 apps, and use Extension Manager CS5 to manage extensions for CS5 apps.

    OK, thanks. I'll try updating Fireworks to CS5.1. Hopefully my CS 5.5 Web Premium license will allow me to do that. The world of Adobe licensing and versioning is very confusing!

    Your Fireworks should have been CS5.1, although the product name is displayed as "Adobe Fireworks CS5" in splash screen and About dialog box. If there is a folder "/Applications/Adobe Fireworks CS5.1" in your machine and you can see "Version 11.1.0.205" in About dialog box, then you have had Fireworks CS5.1, update is unnecessary.

    Sorry, I forgot you had mentioned you have Fireworks CS5 Version 11.0.0.484. It is not CS5.1.
