Adding a link changes my font size/style?

All of the sudden my Contribute has begun changing my font size/style when I add a link.  It shrinks it down to a tiny size and makes it blue and italic.  Once it does this, there is no way to edit it--not through the Page properties or the regular tool bar.  How can I fix this?
