Adobe CS 5.5 Nvidia GTX 680 Support with Mercury Playback Engine

Mar 31, 2012 8:48 AM

Ok, so I was all set to buy a new EVGA GTX 580, and now for the same price I can buy the brand new GTX 680.

Is there anyone here that has tried the GTX 680 to see if PP MBE will support the GTX 680? Of course the Adobe website doesnt mention that they explicitly support the GTX 680 but I'm wondering if it works anyway.

And if it isn;t supported now, I hope its safe to assume its coming with CS6. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Chris

It works after applying the 'hack' but it is not supported.

with at least 1Gig of video ram, use the nVidia Hack http://forums.adobe.com/thread/629557 - which is a simple entry in a "supported cards" file

    Chris,

It works without any issues. It is stable. The 'hack' is easy. Nothing to worry about.

You should notice some very nice speed improvements.

    Harm,

Will there eventually be a driver update from Nvidia that will include CS5.5 on the GTX 680 range as being a compatible card, as has been the case with the previous GTX 500 series.
