static noise

I burned an old dvd into cs4 which is an interview. The subject's voices are fine, however there is static in the background. Is there something I can do to silence this static?

    Background noise, from many sources, can be problematic, though with some work, some background noise can be eliminated, or at least diminished. Everything depends on the frequencies of the noise vs the frequencies of the Audio, that you wish to keep. This ARTICLE gives some tips, and they might be helpful. Success depends so much on what you have, and what you need.

    Sometimes a very low level of music background can mask some of the noise.

    I have used that on occassion, and it CAN be very effective.

    I read the article and I think I will try and add some soft music. It's not a professional video, it was just of friends of mine. Again, thank you for all your advice Bill.
