Wondering...and wanting opinions on:

Is is still prudent to have a little statement on your web site that mentions which browsers and or browser versions your site looks best viewed in?

No.

It's a hallmark of a website from the 90s. IMO, it's never been good practice.

No-one will change or update their browser simply to view your website.

Perform enough testing so your website works in all major browsers, operating systems and devices.

Use Progressive Enhancement techniques to deal with different browser capabilities.
