Import to Stage is gray in the menu. why?

Apr 4, 2012 11:10 AM

trying to add an asset to an unlocked layer in my Flash project, but File>Import>Import to Stage (Cmd-R on Mac) is grayed out.

why is this? is flash telling me that my stage is some how inactive? I am in the scene. I see other graphic elements...my layer (in a group) is unlocked as is the parent of the group.

any clues why I'm denied in this?

thank you,

fkat

Can you post a screenshot of the timeline and the offending layer?

Make sure you even have a keyframe to put it in. You cannot import unless you're in a valid frame. Just hit F5 to add a frame. Without a frame, import to stage will be grayed out.

As I mentioned above, you need a "frame" to put it into. There is no frame there. Right click on the frame you want to add it into and select "Insert Blank Keyframe". Then you'll be able to add something into it.

We've all been there. Good luck.
