Video clip goes to different Timeline Video/Audio tracks

Premiere Pro CS5

When I move a clip to Timeline Video Track 1 the audio goes to Audio Track 4.

 

What might be happening?

 

I recorded the clip with Sony HDR CX560V

And I chose sequence preset AVCHD 1080i30 (60i)  (I did this because Sony PMB shows the clip with a frame rate of 60i)

    UPDATE TO MY POST

     

    It doesn't matter to what Video track I move my clip, the audio portion always goes to Track 4.  (??)

    In a default project, the first 3 audio tracks are stereo tracks. When you add a clip with mono audio, it goes to the first mono track and in the case there is not yet a mono track, it will be added. Normally then it goes to track 4. Remember there are three kind of audio tracks, stereo, mono and 5.1.

    Why does audio not go to the track where I drop it?

    One other question.  If I add background music to my clip does it matter if it's stereo and falls into a lower track?  That is:

    clip video = video track 1

    clip audio = audio track 4

    music = audio track 1

     

    (By the way Ann, the guy on the link you sent me is awesome.  Very clear explanation and right to the point.)

    Really doesn't matter which tracks your audio is on. You can right-click the "Audio 1" area (left side of Sequence) and use the Delete option, set to "Delete all Empty tracks" and this will clean things up for you if you wish.
