LR3 previews missing and not rendering previews.

I am using LR3 on WIN7 64 bit with PLENTY of disc space.

 

Why is LR not showing the previews for some of the folders in a catalog?  I have all ready re calibrated my monitor and removed the old profile.  I just imported  some files and the import went ok, but it got stuck on the first image when rendering (for over 10 minutes).  I looked at another folder and I could see those files with no problem.  Then the folder before that was also missing previews.  how do I fix this?

    I tried to import the files again and it is hanging on rendering (hangs on image 1 of 381).

    Tod, I would suggest that you may have a corrupt previews folder. So find the previews folder and remove it (It is located next to the catalog file). Then rebuild your previews.

    Thanks I will try this (once I locate the previews folder).  Just curious, would this mean that when I rebuild the previews, it rebuilds all 25,000 in my catalog?  I am assuming it would and would think that this may take WAY to long.

    I was able to load a back up copy of this catalog from a couple days ago and it worked just fine.  I just have to re-do a couple of jobs that are only in the new catalog.  A good reminder to back up often!

    Yes it would build all previews.

    f you just opened the bu catalog in it's bu location then there will be no previews with that catalog and previews will be being generated as needed. So would try the original catalog and rendering the previews from scratch, just do it overnight!!
