Udates were downloaded, installation started and then received:
Error 1321. The installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\plug_ins\Multimedia\MPP\QuickTime.FRA.
My system is Windows 7 professional up-to-date as of today. I don't use Quicktime and certainly not its French version.
As per the error, it seems to be a permission specific issue.
Try giving full permissions to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat".
You can check the below article for hot to apply permissions on Win 7.

Also, try disabling the startup items.

Turn off User Account Control as well.

Thanks, Arpit, for your reply.
Your statement about permissions, some problems that I was having with other applications, and the fact that I was having all these problems after installing the "second-Tuesday-of-th-month" Windows Update made me investigate more deeply.
It turns out that the user account that I used orginally to install Acrobat X -- even though it is defined as an "Administrator" account -- does not have access any longer to the directory config.msi.
When I signed on to the USERID "Administrator" I was able to update Acrobat X normally and I was able to solve my other application problems as well.
It appears that an user-defined Administrator account is no longer the same as the account "Administrator".
Thanks again. This problem is solved.
