Stop Button Terminted Instance?

Apr 17, 2012 8:09 AM

Tags: #cloud

This morning two  Instances of my clouds didn't fully start up. To start over/reset them there was a Stop Button but no Pause button which is what I usually would have seen. I clicked the Stop Button which "terminted" the entire Instance without any warning. What happened to the Pause Button here?

From my experience, I can say that Pause button is active only when the entire cloud is up.

So, if your cloud didn't start this button is disabled, and you cannot pause/resume such cloud anymore.

I'm not sure if it should work this way, but I had the same issues before.

    Hi,

Thank you for your suggestion. This warning message will be coming soon.

In order to restore a stopped/terminated instance, you need to have prior backups which completed successfully. You can use the More>Backup and More>Restore options to configure regular backups and restore your CQ cloud.

Upon stopping/terminating a CQ cloud, all the resources allocated on Amazon EC2 (instances, EBS, security groups) are released except for the backups that are stored on Amazon S3.
