Why did my finished rendered project move to the right?

Hello

 

I am not a professional by any means.  But i like to try and make movies and also make them for friends.

 

I have recently completed a movie consisting of video, and photographic stills.  It took me a long time to complete and i advised my friends that i had finished it.

 

When i view the completed project in the Prem pro Project window all seems fine.  And when i see it in the media encoder source and it all looks ok.

 

But there were problems when i completed and exported it to Adobe Media Encoder and rendered.  I viiewed it afterwards to see that the whole movie including video and stills, had moved to the right slightly making it look like the photos and video were not center of screen.  This means that i have now a black space to the left of every action.

 

I rendered in Premiere Pro CS3.   My Export settings: 

 

Windows Media

My frame width and height were the same as the source.  780 x 480

 

I dont understand what the bitrate mode does and so i left it on Variable Constrained.

 

 

My Audio was fine and it came out as stereo as i preffered.

 

Can someone advise what ive done wrong?  Why do i get that border to the left of the project all way through the project.  Its never happened before to me and i cant seem to get rid of it.

 

Its affected the whole project and i cant seem to correct it as i dont know what caused it.

 

I hope someone can help me.

    Not sure if it is a typo on your part but the source you quote is 780 x 480?

    NTSC is 720 x 480 if you live in NTSC land.

     

    If it is not a typo then we need more details about your source footage.

    Where did it come from and what was the codec used.?

    Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

    If you have a red line over the timeline after importing a video and before adding any effects... your project is wrong for your video... read above about codecs

    .

    Once you know exactly what it is you are editing, report back with that information... and your project setting, and if there is a red line above the video in the timeline, which indicates a mismatch between video and project

    ok instead of being flipant please try to understand my message above.

     

    Im am not an experienced Prm Pro user.  I dont know what a codec is.  Where do i look for my codec details?

     

    I understand i made a typo.  Your right its 720x480.

     

    So maybe you can advise me how i look for any error. 

     

    Im wondering is the error in the Media encoder settings?

    I will study the links and other information you have kindly supplied.

     

    Thank you for giving me some info on what is a codec and where to look for it. (UPDATE:  i have read and now understand what a codec is.  Although im a little confused, if i had a problem with my Codec, how could i see the finished rendered project in my Windows media player?  It simply wudnt play if i have codec problems, wouldnt it?)

    Am i looking for a Codec for the completed rendered project?  Or you want a codecs for the videos and photos within my project?  Im asking cus i have many different video segments in my timeline and fotos. 

     

    I have indeed found and can see the red line in my timeline above my project.   Ive seen that red line all the time when making my project, i just didnt know it meant anthing.  So that red line is telling me i have a codec problem or something else?  (UPDATE: I have read and understand now the red line issue.  That red line is simply caused by not having a rendered prievew?  So that would and should not affect my completed media?  Thats just a prievew render state?)

     

    Can i change my settings in order to make that line disapear then re-render or do have to buiild my project again?  I am using CS3 and not CS5.  I hear in CS5 i could change my settings at any stage if i needed to, and it would not affect my project.  (UPDATE: I CAN make that line dissapear by simply rendering the prieview?  That does not answer why i have a project finished moving to the right?)

     

    i am really trying to learn about it.

    Not sure if this remark is directed at me.

     

    If it is, I can assure you that the last thing my comments were intended to be was flippant.

    It was a perfectly reasonable response to your question particularly in view of the 'typo' question.

    It is quite possible that it could have been the answer to your problem.

     

    We are all here to assist, but the majority of us are not mind readers regarding the level of your expertise and it was  a pretty basic question to ask

    which codec was  involved  despite you saying,

    What is the framesize of your video and the stills.

    What is your project setting

    What is your export setting.

    How are you viewing the exported file?

    Screendumps would be very welcome.
