I have cut a selection out of a picture in photoshop but selecting it with the wand tool, then copying to a new layer, and deleting the background, so there should be no background. However, when I put the photo into an InDesign document it shows with a black rectangular background. How can I get rid of this?

This is interesting. I had the picture saved as .jpg, so I tried .png & the same thing happened, the picture had a black frame. So I thought it must be something to do with the way I'm putting the picture in the InDesign document, the only way I know how is to select the picture in photoshop with the 'move tool', then drag it into the InDesign document. I therefore tried copy and paste with the .png file (copy from the finder window as I can't copy from photoshop when the image is open), and this time is came out like this, you can see I opened out the outer frame (blue) and the black is only showing on the inner frame (orange), but this time not touching the image:
