Adobe Community: field blur, tilt blur, iris blur in mask or channel ??!!!

Thanks for the suggestion. This isn't supported for CS6 but you can report it as a feature request to be considered for a future version. You can also post on feedback.photoshop.com to allow other users to vote on your request.

Using masks with these tools is a must have feature who work with 3D software because most of them renders grayscaled Depth of Field buffer as a mask. The old "Lens Blur" plugin from CS5 and external thirdparty DofPro have this feature.

You can create a selection of your mask prior to engaging the blur filters and they will respect your mask. It must be a selection though. There'll even be a modifier slider on the options bar letting you decide how to 'bleed in' the blur into the mask.

thanks mathias,

the thing is that i want to use the field blur on the mask, not using the mask.

anyway, thanks for the reply.

example: when i draw a shadow i use adjustment layer (curves) i draw the shadow in the mask, than i need to blur the mask progresivley going out from the origin/object.

i use the blur filter multiple times going out from the origin/object. with field blur that would be only one step.

Ah, OK I understand now. I guess you could do it on a pixel layer then make it a channel afterwards. I think one of the reasons it doesnt work on channels is that there are some color tools in there.

Hi,

Yes, you can also submit a feature request. In developing the feature we tried to include as much as we could given the time we had to do it and the level of quality we want to maintain. We're investigating requests/improvements and hope to add them in the future.
