They say you can now work on large files with out the past problems fingers crossed.
You can reame layers in the layers panel without the dialog poping up, that took a long time to implement!
64bit is rock solid. And I mean that. Rock solid here. I have many detailed files which crash Ai15.1 consistently. None of the same files crash CS6. And it's faster. I realize you hear that with each release, but it's really true this time. The 64bit conversion along with the reworking of several areas has greatly improved performance. There's a noticable difference on my systems between CS6 and CS5.5 regarding speed and redraw.
I gave you a correct answer because this was something we all fought for and it is now something everyone can look forward to.
Large files but besides 64 bit Ibelieve in orde to do 64 bit they had to essentially rewrite illustrator as opposed simply porting it to 64 bit.
I wonder how the type engine is working becaaus e tht was knew before 64 bit.
Yes it's been rewritten. The type engine is pretty much the same. The UI is drastically different - its far more consistent overall and just "feels" smoother when using it. There are still a couple UI items I'd liek to see worked on but when compared to CS5.5, the CS6 UI is really, really nice. The under the hood stuff, like rewriting the Guassian blur improved speeds for the blur effects dramatically.
Mordy Golding have written a blog post about what it mean to be native 64bit. Interesting info just here:
