Flex ObjectUtil.copy cannot convert Object to mx.collections.XMLListCollection

I have a class which has var of type XMLListCollection.

Using ObjectUtil.copy(object of above class) it provides me class type Object but throws an error.

TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert Object@ac433d1 to mx.collections.XMLListCollection.
