Changing PDF file hugely increases size

Apr 23, 2012 1:02 PM

I open a PDF map and make changes.  I want to keep changes so when I print it is good quality.  When I open the file it is at 508 kb.  After making changes it is at 56 mb.  Why is it so large?  I need to save the changes.  What can I do to the file to shrink it but still have good quality printing capabilities?

One thing you can do is find out what's taking up all the space by clicking the "Audit space usage" button in PDF Optimizer. In Acrobat 9, you'd select: Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Audit space usage

Report back what it says before and after. Also, what type of changes are you making?
