Hope someone can help me with this one, it has me stumped. We created numerous SVG files that include a graphic on one layer, and callout text in boxes in another. We sent these files out for translation (to Portuguese - Brazil). The translation company edited the files in SDL Studio 2011. They just changes the English text to Portuguese. When trying to open the translated SVG files, all of the callout text remained in English. If the files were opened in Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Inkscape the text was shown as Portuguese. If I open the SVG file in Notepad and search for the English callout text it cannot find it and I can see the Portuguese text. Does Illustrator CS5 have some sort of cache that is making the English text appear? Any ideas on how I can resolve this. Right now the only work-around is to use Inkscape.
Thanks,
Rob
There is no cache in AI. The text may just be encoded in the SVG as Hex or Base64 data or HTML entities or whatever. SVG is a descriptive format and the same appearance can have infinite different combinations of features underneath giving the same resault. Anyway, without seeing the file this is going nowhere, I'm afraid....
