Full Height Anamorphic - am i doing this correctly?

I have a movie thats 1920 x 1080. I need to make an SD dvd full height anamorphic. I took the movie into after effects and created a 720 x 480 dv comp. I squeezed the movie into the comp and rendered. I imported the movie into encore and then interpreted the footage to SD NTSC widescreen (1.2121). It seems to look right but is this the correct way? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    What version of Encore?

     

    Just export from Premiere (Adobe Media Encoder) as MPEG2-DVD 16:9. For CS4 and up,  you will need to crop pixels top and bottom to remove small black borders on left and right. Crop 14 top and 14 bottom.

    Its version CS5. Do I need to change the pixel size to 720 x 480 or do I leave it in HD?

    The default settings for MPEG2-DVD will set it to 720x480.

    Thanks Stan for your help. The only problem I noticed doing it this way is that it transcodes the file which makes it difficult to be frame accurate when wanting to place chapter markers. If I needed to bring in a raw movie will my original way still be a correct way of doing it? Thank you

    You are right.

     

    Set Encore markers in Premiere, or dynamic link to Encore and set chapter markers before transcoding. Some users do not like the dynamic link downrez results,but I would give it a try.

     

    Some method like yours should work. When you say "squeezed," and then need to interpret teh footage to get the right aspect, I am not sure you've got it just right. But if it looks right.... Ha, ha!
