Cannot use Cs5 trial due windows closing it down - help please

May 5, 2012 5:42 AM

I downloaded and installed the Cs5 trial yesterday and it all seemed to travel along nicely until I try to use the program.  I can open it up and it all looks as it should but if I go to File and New or Open, I get a message saying that windows is closing the program down.

I have since uninstalled the program twice and reinstalled it.  I'm quite frustrated with it as I'm not all that computer savvy and everything I read on these forums indicates that there are a lot of problems with the downloading and installing part but not so much about what to do after installation if having problems.

I'm using a Windows Vista 64 bit version.

I hope someone can help.  Thankyou.

Well, what CS5 product are you actually trying to use? Photoshop? If so, this could be a mundane graphics card crash due to hardware acceleration. If so, turn OpenGL off under Edit --> Preferences --> Performance and then take steps to update your graphics driver and configure it properly. Otehr than that this could be permissions issues where specific directories cannot be accessed, but we'd need more info about your setup then...

Try this: http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html . Though it's possible that the links are simply offline due to Adobe moving on to CS6 and Creative Cloud now. Then you'll have to find thme elsewhere e.g. by borrowing the DVD from a friend.
