Discount Codes excluding tax

I have set up a 20% off discount code for a client.  However, it is taking the percentage off the product + tax.  Is there any way to have the discount code take the percentage off just the product price before tax is added in?

    Hi,

     

    At this stage there is currently no way to apply discount codes pre tax within the system.

     

    I'll pass this onto our product team as a potential wishlist enhancement.

Our product management team are monitoring a range of channels and speaking with a large group of existing Partners to ensure we’re headed in the right direction.

    Hi, Thanks for passing it on as a wishlist.

     

    It's really problematic from an invoicing and accounts point of view. In the UK, HM Revenue and customs state, "If any of your goods or services are discounted, you charge VAT on the discounted price rather than the full price."

     

    At the moment if a discount is applied the incorrect VAT value is shown in the cart. Another way to look at it is instead of a pretax discount tag can't you supply a VAT/GST tax tag for after discounts are applied? So a tax tag on all subtotals after discounts have been applied. In saying that we sell items that are incur VAT and some that don't, so the tax tag would have to factor in which products are in the cart.
