Christiane Gresse von Wangenheim, PMP at the GQS – Software Quality

Group at the INCoD - National Research Institute on Digital Convergence (http:// www.incod.ufsc.br) at UFSC - Federal University of Santa Catarina/Brazil. The survey is open to anyone who is involved

in the development of mobile software, because we feel that your experience in the context of mobile software development can contribute much to our understanding of the current state of practice. Your

participation in this research is entirely voluntary. If you accept, we would like to ask you to answer this questionnaire , which should take you about 20-30 minutes. All responses will remain confidential. Information

that we collect from this questionnaire will be shared only in a summarized way, not enabling the identification of individual answers. Survey results will be made public and will be available at the INCoD

website (http:// www.incod.ufsc.br). If you have any questions, please contact us: Christiane Gresse von Wangenheim (gresse@gmail.com). Please feel free to circulate this survey amongst your colleagues.

ASObject AddRef() and Release() problem

Hi,

This is with Flash Lite for Digital Home. I have created reference to one ASObject using AddRef(). This Object has around 30 properties. I will call Release() when i dont need this reference. This works fine for some time. But in some situation/cases the Release() function crashes. But it says the object is valid. Here I call IsValid() function. If I call any other function it crashes and GetNumProperties returns some huge integer value say 321456 and it is not correct.

Here, before calling Release(), at the swf side(i mean UI), many setInterval(), clearInterval() is called.

My questions:

     1. Why the object is corrupted?

     2. Is SetInterval()/clearInterval() causing any problem().

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Is there any standard API in as2.0 or 2.1 to emits LSK or MSK or RSK automatically ? or is there any other way like using virtual keycodes ?

Anyone knows please help me.

Thanks

Rajalakshmi

Some general cuestions about Flash Lite

Hi there, I'm newbie in Flash Lite,

While I am just entering the mobile devices world, I have a strong knowledge of AS3 and OOP.

My questions are:

1. There are some version of Flash Lite where I can use AS3?

2. With the emergence in the market for Flash Player 10.1, Flash Lite will become obsolete?

3. After read a lot of documentation provided by Adobe, I came to the conclusion that an application programming for mobile devices is similar to programming a web application but paying close attention to multi-screen adaptation, the low resources of devices and unpredictable internet connectivity. Am I correct?

Thanks!

Information on Adobe Flash Lite License

I have submitted a license request form here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?event=mmform&name=flashlite couple of days back but didn't get any response so far. If anybody has already undergone through this license process please answer to the following queries.

1) What are the benefits of owning a Adobe Flash Lite License for the device manufacturers?

2) If I buy an Adobe Flash Lite License, will I get Adobe flash lite source code OR a binary Adobe Flash Lite run time?

3) Do you have a list of 3rd party developers who provide custom flash lite run time environment for specific hardware platform? I could find only QNX, but they dont provide flash lite runtime for other companies.

4) Where can I find information such as the production license fee per produced unit for a full functionality Adobe Flash Lite runtime?

5) Is linux version of Adobe Flash Lite (x86) available for download from Adobe?

Thanks,

Sreejith

Drag and Drop Flash Lite hasMouse hasStylus not supported ?

Hi,
I am new to flash lite. Recently I have started developing simple game in Flash Lite, and one of the main features will be dragging and dropping images.
My first thought was to target devices with touch screen like i.e. Nokia 5800. So I checked the documentation and found functions responsible for dragging in AS2 - startDrag() stopDrag() and etc. Those functions have only one restriction - they are supported if
System.capabilities.hasMouse
or
System.capabilities.hasStylus
are set to
true
.
And surprise... Nokia 5800, N95, HTC and some more all of them returns false...If you have experience with drag and drop can you advise me another device that supports those functions?
And what's the reason of not implementing such useful feauture for touch devices? Maybe I am doing something wrong.
All comments & answers are welcome,
thank you,
Janusz

Datagrid in Nokia 5800

So, I execute in my PC and all it is ok.

On the other hand, I have installed it in my Nokia 5800 with the xml file.

The Datagrid loads perfectly but I have some trouble with the 'Selected Item Rectangle':

First at all, the rectangle always remains visible when I select the first visible item in the list. For other selected items, the rectangle dissapears and only change the color of the text.

Later, I have declared the _alpha property to 25 with the object to get more design and the behavior is worst than before: the rectangle of the first item in the list, if selected, remains visible in every moment, and the other items of the list, if selected, shows a rectangle like a simple line, and other strange things...

I have tried to redraw, use drawFocus, setStyle, ... unsuccesfully.

Anybody knows what is it due? Are they bugs? I am just wondering how the Communication between Flash lite apllication and native C++ application is possible! I come across "ExternalInterface class" in Flash which allows us to communicate to a C++ application via Java script. Is this feature available in Flash lite too? I read in some forums that it is not currently supported. In that case what is the solution for this?

To develop HMI for devices (Automotive) it is essential that the flash lite HMI should be able to interact with the back end business logic.
