field date expression

DateFormat(query.fromDay, "m/d") + " " + DateFormat(query.toDay, "m/d")

I wanted to show my report field like ' from 10/20/2014 to 10/25/2014 and have above code in the expression.

I got error when run the report.

It works for one expression like DateFormat(query.fromDay, "m/d"), but it does not work to combine 2 of them together.

Reporting Excel missing clast column

I have a report which has 40 columns and orientation is landscape. left and right margin is 0.0972 in.

It shows all columns on pdf format, but missing last column when use Excel format.

Are there any limitation for Excel format report?

If PDF format has the last column, why Excel does not pick the last column?

cfchart yaxis scale is wrong when combining bar and line charts

Hi, I am trying to combine a bar and line chart ti display data. Everything looks good except that the yaxis scale is off. I set the scaleMin to 0 but that doesn't help. Below is my code, the custom XML style and a screen shot. My ultimate goal is to get the yaxis to start at 0, not -1,000 as is currently the case. I have combined this data with each set represented as bar charts and do not have this problem. It must be the combo of bar and line charts together. Any assistance is most appreciated.

Fonts are not embedding in CFRB10, and CFRB11 reports it is still version 10??

So, I have a report built using CFR Builder 10 with the fonts all marked as "embedded font" in order to make the report look as it should. However the fonts default to Helvetica when it generates.

So - I need to know why this is not working properly, since it should. All the HELP notes is that the PDF file will be larger with embedded fonts, which everyone should know already.

Second : I upgraded to CFRB11 to see if that issue was fixed, but when it opens it looks the same as CFRB10 and the HELP/ABOUT menu shows it is still version 10?? Is this just a bug or is Adobe pawning off version 10 as version 11. It should be a new version with the new CF version since it would need to include new functions etc, as well as have any issues fixed since version 10, of which there were a few.

Any ideas on either - or response from ADOBE?

I miss Macromedia, at least they always had staff members answering forum posts often.

Does Adobe think customer service is a joke? Why is a 2-hour wait time acceptable? Someone contact me at b2bn@hotmail.com regarding a refund for an Adobe product I recently purchased. If not I'll just have to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Regardless of your attempt, forcing customers to wait over 2-hours for customer service will not stop me from getting a refund.

Tip - if you want to learn about a company and how much they value their customers, see how long it take to get in touch with customer service. That will tell you all you need to know.

Reporting width scale and change group

I have a chart data source for 25 columns and assign to my line chart data source.

The chart shows data but only use 50 percent of the chart width.

I would like to have my chart extend the full width of the report which is landscape orientation.

Are there any property to set stretch the whole width?

My report has group like element 1, element 2. Chart has evaluation group property to set.

I set it to my group name which is MyElement, but it seems that the chart prints the same chart for the all group.

Are there any property to set the the chart print different chart base on the group.

I have my chart in Group Footer. Should I have it in detail band?

Specify Excel sheet name

The Excel sheet always name ColdFusionReport.

I would like to know are there any way to customize the Excel sheet name and it is possible to have the report pages become sheet 1, sheet 2.... instead of all pages on the first sheet.

sub report size at design time

I noticed that the size of sub report is limited on the main report at design time.

For example, if I have sub report hight at 1" then the maximum height will be 1" on the report at run time.

The design area has limit too, so if this is the case, my report design area is limited to my report.

Please let me know if I am wrong, or any work around for this,

I want to add chart to my report and add a chart control on my report.

I double click on the chart and edit chart type as line chart and edit chart series.

I use Data from a fix of values and choose the field name from the drop down from my data source field name, but I got following error message.

An error occurred while trying to create a chart on this report.
Ensure that the column(s) selected for the chart series are numerical values. Error: The chart could not be generated due to an error in the graphing engine.

I tried to select from data from query. I have to build my query from report.

I use a stored procedure for this report, so I need advance to build my query, once I use the stored procedure then Report Builder warn me that it will erase all fields to recreate fileds.

I would like to know what is the right procedure to create chart for the report.

Each section on a Bill is checked for a specific condition in the 'Print When Condition'. This can cause blank pages to be created and printed, it there a way to not print blank pages?

I created a couple of reports and try to run different format.

I just realized that some report works flashpaper, but some of them do not.

I set default format to flashpaper at design time for all reports.

The reports work for PDF, Excel, RTF, XML and HTML, but for flashpaper some of them work, some of them do not.

I would like to know are there any property and code need to set it works.

I use IE 8 which should support flashpaper, since some of the reports work.

Print When with two conditions

I only want to print a page if two conditions are met. On each section I am using the following Print When Condition:

DateFormat(query.asofdate, "mm/dd/yyyy") NEQ DateFormat(calc.AmtDate, "mm/dd/yyyy") AND LSNumberFormat((query.bal + calc.anticipated), "_.__") LTE LSNumberFormat(25.00, "_.__").

The date check works great by itself and the amount check works great by itself but I can't get them to work together. Any ideas?

Conflicts with CFReport tag and custom JasperReports feature within our application

My company's application was previously on ColdFusion 6.1 and working fine. We built a reporting feature using JasperReports to generate reports (which were created with iReport) which also allowed the ability to export in PDF (iText) or Excel (Apache POI) and included the use of Barcodes (IDAutomation). All of this was done either in ColdFusion CFC/CFM files or with Java JAR/class files.

We were able to upgrade our system to the latest ColdFusion 8. Everything is working fine and so far we don't have any problems. That is until we decided to use ColdFusion Report Builder and the CFReport tag. After pounding our heads against the wall we have figured out that we can use one or the other but not both. If we use our JasperReport feature, any CFReport that is run, gives an error. We have tried using a different application scope but that doesn't seem to do anything. If we instead generate a CFReport first, then our custom JasperReports code is unable to compile any new templates. However we have noticed in this scenario that it is still able to generate a report if the template is already compiled (.jasper file instead of a .jrxml).

After some research on the web I've come across Java Proxy (can even see a JavaProxy called in the ColdFusion error dump). I believe that since the classes have the same name (net.sf.jasperreports.engine.*) different JARs are being used and loaded depending which is ran first (our custom jasperreports or cfreports).

What I'm needing is some help hopefully figuring out a way to get them both to peacefully coexist. Or at the very least some insight as to what is happening in hope I can understand it and figure out a solution.

Our application uses the following JARs:

jasperreports-1.2.6.jar
poi-2.5.1-final-20040804.jar (ability to write out in Excel file format)
iText-1.3.5.jar (ability to write out in PDF file format)
barbecue-1.1.jar (barcode used in iReport but can't create valid 2D barcodes)
iReport-1.2.6.jar (has façade/facade class that allows iReport to generate barcodes using barbecue)
IDAutomation-PDF417-4.10.jar (new 2D barcode meant to replace barbecue)
IDAutomation-Linear-4.10.jar (new 1D barcode meant to replace barbecue)

Save Data in Report to Use later

I have several names to report I need to combine data from several records of the same type with different codes. Not all names have the same codes. I want to report the data on one line. Is there a way to save date to be used later in the report?

For Example:

Charts get corrupted using CFReportBuilder 10 in Windows 8.1

Reports that we created that contain Charts, using Windows Vista to author, stop working and error "resource unreadable" when we open and save the report using Win 8.1 64bit. Everything else in the reports will work fine, but the charts become corrupted and unrecoverable. Is there a patch or newer version of CFReportBuilder to fix this? I tried the CFReportBuilder version available with CF11 and get the same results...

Does anyone know where or how I can download this?

Clicking on help just gives you a warning saying 'MS Html Help is not installed on this PC.'

Stretch with overflow

I have a CF 10 report with an Excel Output format. One of my columns needs to stretch. When I set the Fromatting "Stretch with Over to True" and the Print Control "Position Type" to Floating and the "Stretch Type to Relative to Band Height" for all the fields on my detail I get an exxtra line in my excel output when there is an overflow condition. I am including an image of the output.

What am I missing?

I have two fields that I need to concatenate after I have performed a calcutation. I am taking a school year and subtracting 5 years.

School Year = 201314. I want the result to be 200809 so that I can select any courses that have a School Year greater than 200809.

I have tried many variations of:

LEFT(sysvar.cur_schyr,4) - 5 + RIGHT(sysvar.cur_schyr,2) - 5 as "B4SchYr" this adds 2009 + 08 and gives me 2017 when I want 200809 returned. How do I treat the numeric strings as characters?

Infinite loop creating new page due to column header overflow.

I have a sub report on the column header which works,

Because my sub report return different records from data source, it fails and get infinite loop error message like above when I have 9 records, it works less than 9 records.

I got above error message while I insert a sub report to my report and I am unable to close Report Builde/ I had to use task manager to end task to close Report Builder.

The cancel, previouse, Next and Finish buttons are disabled on the sureport source form.

second sub report

I have a report which has one sub report and works.

I just move this sub report from column footer to rpeort footer and add a new sub report to column report.

The main report and first sub report works still the same, but second sub report added does not show on the report.

The usb report works fine itself.

I just wanted to know are there any particular configure for more than one subreport on the report.

Problem testing report builder report

When I test my report it while in report builder, it looks great on the screen. When I try to actually print a page so I can see how it looks on paper using the forms, all I get is the background/ CF Developer message. What am I missing here? I should be able to test print the report. I don't mind the background but I need to see the data.

I know this has been asked before but I can't seem to find anything current. I came across some stuff but the links were diead or explanatory images didn't show.

It seems that Report Builder doesn't do crosstabs. I wondered if anyone had come across any kind of workaround. What I would like to show is something like:

Books Circulated

Jan Feb Mar Apr... Year Total

Red Books 100 200 300 400

Blue Books 300 100 200 200

Total 400 300 500 600

Seems like it should be doable. I usually us a crosstab and it is relatively straightforward. Any suggestions in Reprot Builder? Thanks.

Page Footer whitespace

I have an invoice report that had N number of line items with N number of lines of description per line item. The invoice displays all of the line items, and then at the bottom of the last page, it provides a signature block for the customer to sign. Here is my problem: If I put the signature block in the page footer, it's displayed at the bottom - which I want - but repeated on every page. If I put the signature block in the report footer, it's displayed on the last page - which I want - but immediately following the last line item. I need it at the bottom of the last page only. The closest I have gotten is to try and predict the number of page that I will have and then hide the page footer until (what I think will be) the last page. However, this still have the page footer whitespace to show up which isn't right.

Because they are differrnt structure, it will be difficult to put in same table structure.

If I hard code the report footer then I need update the report cfr file every time the data change.

I have an instructors schedule that shows each time a course is taught for example:

The Credit only shows the first time (Print When Condition: calc.counter IS 1). I need to total the credits for each course when I use the Sum(credits) function it totals for each line (the above ezample would show a total of 6), I only want to sum if calc.counter EQ 1

I use Report Builder for summary at group footer.

I tried to function builder like

Sum(Query.MyField), but the report builder does not like this for some reason.

I tried to use Query.MyField, Report Builder still does not like it to give me ColdFusion does not recognize it.

I need to have calculation field like

sum(MyField1 * MyField2)/ sum(MyField2) and sum(MyField2) base on group elements.

for my summary field and need change color if it is neccessary.

I have a stored procedure from MS SQL backend and the result heading is WeekResult1, WeekResult2, WeekResult3... etc until Week20Result for report datasource.

I would like to assign the heading at run time to May/01/2013, May/08/2013, May/15/2013 ... etc base on user enter date range.

Report Builder Question

Hi, I have been working on a specialized patient data application and I am trying to build a master report of a Patient's Chart containing all the data collected on a patient. This involves several tables and would be 10 to 12 subreports, but I am running into problems in report builder putting in more subreports than can fit in a single page in the report editor.

Does anyone know a work around for this? Can you define multiple pages? What would be your solution to my problem?

I created a report function to find and return a graduation date. I only need to execute the function once per person.

The query returns all colleges a person attended, I only want to report the colleges they attended before their graduation date (or current date if they have not graduated).

I tried to create an expression in the "Print When Condition" CF did not like what I tried. I don't believe I'm referencing the return varible correctly.

We are on CF 9 and I have already spent too much time on this project.

I have a Transcript report and I only want to print any other institude name and credit earned (transfer information) that occurred before the student graduated. I am selecting only the institudes that have a 'receive date' prior to the 'grad date'. This works great on the students that have graduated. If they haven't graduated the 'grad date' is empty and I error out when comparing it to the receive date. Here is the query that calls the transfer information:

I have a report that passes a date (time stamp) to a subreport. Sometimes the date being passed is null (or an empty string) and the report . When this happens get an "Incompatible java.lang.String value assigned to parameter GradDate1 in the ColdFusionReport dataset.". I want to change the value of the Param being passed to current date. Where and How can I change the date in the parama being passed. I've tried many things (functions, in the query, etc) and can't get anything to work. We are on CF 9. Please help!

I am trying to edit the report query, changing the joins on the tables, and Report Builder crashes repeatedly. Anyone experienced this? Is there a patch for Report Builder I don't know about?

i would access to recordset (passed to cfr) for ordering it.

query to cfr -> ordering recordset in cfr -> print

is this possible?

I am using Report Builder 8.

I am grouping on a date field, but some of the people returned have a null value. I need to show an alternate heading if that group's date is null, I would actually like it to head it with "No Date"

However, I can not figure out how/where to put it that conditional statement.

I am using CF9 and have generated a report using CF Report Builder that has a report parameter that function correctly.

I am trying to be able to get the variable value from the the address line and then display the cooresponding report page.

I have set a default value in report builder and written a simple viewing cfm.

</cfreport>

When I run this I get the report returned correctly for record '55'

http://website/nc_impactreport.cfm

Another program will have the hyperlink (http://website/nc_impactreport.cfm) with the selected record id(ie55) all on one line.

How do I get the variable value from the address line into the cfm correctly to pass it into the report?
