After creating a slide and formatting the timing to match the desired effect; I try to preview in an HTML5 window in my browser and it plays as a video, but it keeps pausing requiring the user to click play. How can I ensure that it is a continuous play and the slide does not pause. This is getting EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!!!

Is their a way to remove the pause function on a text entry box? I creating a tutorial and I want to give the user the ability to enter a specific keystroke in the text box but if the user doesn't do anything for 5 or 6 seconds have the slide move on. Any help would be appreciated!

problem importing caption graphic files through Object Style Manager

Hi everyone, I have been a user of Captivate for a few years now and am currently using version 7. I've come across a puzzling problem here. I want to create some custom text captions and am using the Object Style Manager to import graphic images to use as the bases for the new captions. The graphic files are simple, two-color images in bitmap format; they have bars running along the top and bottom horizontal edges and then a wide space in the middle in a lighter color, so the whole thing looks something like the flag for Austria, the Netherlands, or Hungary. (Sorry I don't have an image here.) I created the initial images in a couple of different formats -- using Adobe Fireworks, SnagIt, and Paint. Then I use the Object Style Manager to import the image. What's happening is the first few pixels at the top and the last few pixels at the bottom are being chopped off or omitted after importing them. (More specifically, when I create new captions using the new styles, I can see a few pixels of transparency along the top and bottom edges.) Any ideas as to causes and/or solutions?

I investigated further with other types of "homemade" graphics files and I've noticed other odd effects. When I import a graphic image that's all in one solid color (such as a big rectangle of purple), the color swathe is chopped down to about half its original size. I tried changing the initial flag-like color scheme to three colors instead of two, and then only the top part got chopped off. I created a checkerboard pattern and imported that, and the resulting caption was completely blank (or transparent). I also tried creating the initial image file in a different format from bitmap, then saving it, opening it in a simple Windows picture viewer, and then doing a screen capture (using SnagIt) and saving the "copy" in bitmap ... no luck using that procedure, either. In all cases, I've been able to enter text into a caption without a problem ... the problem seems limited to chopping off (or making transparent) parts of the image.

Text Entry Box Ugly Scrollbar Alternative

The heading says it all. I am confused why Captivate only allows text entry boxes to sit on one line and do not wrap. Instead the only alrternative is unsightly scroll bars that do not fit every situation. I mean a text entry box might be 12 lines, with a character limit that prevents the text from overflowing, and yet the only way to force it to wrap (and be validated) is to force scroll bars.

Is there another way?

Captivate 7 Drag & Drop On Failure action

Hi there!

I added a drag and drop question to my project to create a multiple response question. There are 6 draggable objects and one drop target. User must drag the correct 4 objects to the drop target.

If they do not select the correct 4 objects, I would like a lightbox to appear with feedback and an instruction to try the question again. User must X out of the lightbox to see the question and try again.

I created a group (text box with feedback and close button) for the light box
I also created variables
- Variable1: Show group
- Variable2: Hide group
The close botton has been assigned variable 2 (hide group) on success

In the drag and drop properties, under ACTION, I selected

On Failure: Execute Advance Interaction
Script: Variable2

I thought that this would prompt the lightbox to appear, but it does not work. I must be doing something wrong! Can anybody tell me what I did wrong and how to get the lightbox to work?

Hello I am completely new to Captivate and have been assigned the task of editing an FAQ in a Captivate project created to showcase a grant program I work for. The gist is that the user clicks on images on the slide and a question and answer pop up in a box below the line of images. There is about 9 images with 9 different questions and answers. Only one will show up as editable in the filmstrip view. The others will show up on the time line but there appears to be no way to edit these. Sorry for such a newbie question but I've never used Captivate before and am not quite sure what to even ask. Thanks for any help you can .

Adding pauses to buttons in Captivate 8

I have just migrated a file into Cap. 8 and a few elements have gone awry in the move. One is that some buttons that previously had pauses on them no longer do, and I can't see how to reinsert a pause.

Hello.

I am inserting a Text Caption, using the HaloBlue style. I want to be able to resize the caption box but using the anchors doesn't work. I can't adjust it. So, I tried using the Transform option. I took off the "Contraint Proportion" and tried adjusting the size that way. I can adjust it UP (make it larger) but cannot adjust it smaller beyond W:156 H:81.

So confused. Wondering if somebody can help.

Properties Not Matching Text

I have been using the trial version of Captivate 8, playing with it's capabilities and interface. Upon publishing a trial module, I noticed some text that I had italicized were not showing as italicized. Looking back at the Captivate text, I found some text that showed in the properties as italicized were not. In addition, the opposite also occurred. Some text that looked italicized did not show as italicized in the properties. Is this a current bug has happened to anyone else?

Captivate 8: Button Text alignment, where did it go?

My work upgraded to Captivate 8. I am working with a former Captivate 7 file.

When I clicked on a Transparent Button the font alignment jumped from centered to left. I cannot find anyplace to make the alignment go back to centered. Can someone tell me where to locate that feature/capability? It was very handy in Cp 7 to have it listed right below the Character properties. Now I have no idea where they moved it to as it does not appear to be a property anymore.

CPVC Project: Toolbar available for this projects?

CPVC Project: I recorded some video demos and safed them as .cpvc. Now I would like to edit them in the edit mode. But the toolbar doesn't show up anymore as I know this from other CPVC-projects before.

I also didn't found any possibility to unhide it, in case I hide the toolbar by mistake.

When I open a blank project everything looks alright. The toolbar shows up.

Any ideas, what's wrong here?

Captivate 8: Can responsive projects be larger than 1280px wide and 100px tall?

Our standard layout on Cp7 was 1900px wide by 900px tall. Cp8 does not allow us to keep these dimensions for desktop on responsive projects. It imposes a limitation of 1280px wide (which we frankly find a bit small for thunderbolt displays, etc).

Is there a workaround or a customized setting for this?

Captivate 7 split & resize slide problem

I have a slide(s) in a project that is set to 1280x720.

After I split the slide, for some reason, the new slide that is now created after the split, gets re-sized to some unknown size.

The slide appears zoomed in far to close so when I now play the project, or just that slide, the screen is zoomed in so far I cannot see most of the originally required capture area.

I've tried using the Modify>Rescale Project command to re-scale/re-size the whole project back to the required size, but I just cannot get the slide after the split to go back tot eh correct/required size.

This happens for ALL slides that I Split.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Text and images bleeding through Smart Shapes

What could be happening here?

Working on a CP7 project using white Smart Shapes containing paragraphs of black text. We have numerous other white Smart Shapes (set to 100%) hiding areas of the paragraph and timed to reveal different words at various intervals.

Our problem is the text is bleeding through the Smart Shapes set at 100%. It is very slight, but when viewing from the side or above the monitor the bleed through becomes quite obvious.

This only appears when in the Preview mode.

We tried using captions with text, but the also bleed through.

Anyone else experience this?

PE 10 forces me to render each video clip, whether special effects are added or not

I am using PE
10 and have been for a couple of years. I have a Dell Precision 5500 work
station computer with NVIDIA 2000 series graphics card. I installed updates for
PE 10, defragmented my computer as usual before starting a project, and of
course, updated the graphics card. I noticed Bill Hunt's announcement about
graphics card update issues with PE 10, so rolled back the driver to previous
version (which worked just fine) but am still having this issue: when I place a
video clip on the timeline, I have to render it. Usually I only have to render a
video clip if it has special effects or transitions applied to it. This is
making my video project really cumbersome. Any ideas? Perhaps purchasing
PE12?

Captivate 8: Can you still change slide quality?

I just downloaded CP8 and WOW is this interface different. It's taking me a while to find everything. I imported some images and they look pretty pixelated. They look fine in a preview. But I'm wondering if you can still set slide quality?

It's just bugging me that they look so pixelated as I work on it.

Multiple Text Entry Boxes with Validation

Hi Everyone,

I'm a very new user to Captivate, and I have to say I'm pulling my hair out a little bit.

I've imported a PP presentation into Captivate, as what I need is to have Text Entry boxes with validation as part of my training presentation which will be run in Adobe Connect Pro, 6 on each slide.

I'm putting multiple Text Entry boxes onto a slide in response to a question that has several different parts. If I put each part on a different slide i'd be at about 100 slides, which is just a bit silly and repetetive.

Everything seems to work, i'm setting the 'Success' of the validation to Enable the next Text Entry box apart from the final one which is set to go to next slide, but on running the project, after the first Submit button is clicked, it's simply moving to the next slide without the opportunity to enter the next set of text for validation.

What am i doing wrong?

copy and paste issue

I am using captivate 5 - i am able to copy and paste for a number of times and then it wont allow me to copy any more images etc. I have to close down captivate to clear the memory in order to continue....

There must be a way around this.... Is there a clipboard i can access in captivate... I cant delete the images showing in the library as this will remove images i need... any advice please

If I click on Chapter name, the list of slides have to expand or collapse.

Fuzzy/blurry text in Captivate 7

Hi alll,

We recently upgraded from Captivate 6 -> 7. Usually we use transparent text boxes for text, and when publishing in Captivate 7, the text gets blurry/fuzzy, regardless of color, size, font etc. We had the same problem in an earlier version of Captivate (I think maybe it was Captivate 3), and the workaround then was to highlight at least one charachter within each text box, but this does not work in Captivate 7.

Funny thing is that if I just drag the generated .htm file into my browser window, the text is crisp and clear, but when I run the same module from our LMS, it all gets blurry and fuzzy.

Any help to avoid this would be very appreciated.

Captivate 5.5 Slide Advance Issue

Hello all - I have an Adobe Captivate 5.5 project with exaclt 36 slides in it. The last 11 slides being a 10 question quiz with a final scoring page. The timing on the scoring page is exactly 19.2 seconds, and the project should end at that point, and then it should launch a URL that I added to the "at end" preference. The problem that I am having is that sometimes the URL is launched after the scoring slide ends at 19.2 seconds, and sometimes it is not.Sometimes there is an additional 15 - 20 second lag before the URL is launched. Also, when I click the embedded "Continue" button on the scoring page, it never works. I am assuming it should end the project and launch the URL.The forward arrow button does not work either. Thank you in advance for any help you are able to provide with this.

How do you fine tune an effect in Captivate 6

I'm trying to scale and move a video using the effects timeline and I want it to wind up in an exact location on the stage. Is there any way to fine tune it by entering in exact coordinates rather than by bouncing back & forth between Live Preview and Edit View? I'm used to being able to entering in exact numbers when tweening an object in Flash and this seems like a pretty bad way of moving things around on the screen. Am I missing something here?

Remove button click sound in Captivate 7

I am trying to remove the click sounds in the training simulation. I have gone through each click and selected the "disable click sound" in the properties tab. I am still getting the click sounds when publishing the video. is there another option to get rid fo these click sounds? Has anyone encountered or have a fix for this?

"Visible in Output" vs. Visible

Hi,

I am new to captivate and have been happily going along making my slides. On some slides, I have been able to deselect "visible" on a text caption. But, recently, I changed the theme so the background looks nice, and now every time I add a text caption, I get a "Visible in output" box to check instead of "visible". Therefore, my text is not appearling on the slide after a certain amount of time as I would like. What am I doing wrong?

A colleague of mine was recording a 4 min video in Captivate with the correct resolution, 1280x996. She is not sure what she did, but the resolution has changed to 1280x774 and I am unable to resize the project.

When selecting the video layer and going to 'Modify', there is no option available for 'Resize Project'. I have tested with a different video I have created and I have the option.

Any idea how we can resolve this without re-recording?

She is using the 32bit client and when recording a test video and emailing to me, there is still no option. I'm using the 64bit client where I can re-size projects I have recorded.

"Hide" group of slides from playbar scrubber

Hello,

I've got a bunch of slides at the end of my project that should be only viewed from links within other slides.

The problem is the playbar give access to the whole project.

Say my project is 20 slides long. You should only be able to scrub through slides 1-10. Like you can take individual slides from ToC.

Icing on the cake would be those "secondary" slide would have custom playbars (you can view 11-15, 16-17, 18-20 in a row).

Hope this is clear but I fear this is not possible at all.

Editing the X and Y Properties of a motion path

I don't know if there's a shortcut for this :

Sometimes, it's easier to select an object from the timeline but if you try to use cursor keys to move it, you're in fact moving IN the timeline.

Is there a way to switch to Slide edition ?

[Cp6] Rollover slidelet works... only after a while

I've got a simple rollover slidelet on my slide (3 pictures inside).

As soon as it appears on slide, I've got the hand cursor with no rollover.

It will only appear after a while, for some reason. And it won't appear at all if I put a pause too soon in the main timeline.

Any clue ?

[Cp6/7] Sliding ToC display bug

Hello,

When you select ToC in Overlay + Right mode, it won't appear properly : it will appear and slide OUT of the frame instead of sliding in !

I could reproduce the behaviour on a fresh Cp7 version. It's not straightforward, though, you may have to play a bit with the settings to get the behaviour.

I don't know if there's a workaround...

As you can see in the animation above, you have to use the twin arrows button to bring back a normal behaviour.

Click boxes and text captions not staying put

Translating a captivate project into another language, 'Submit All Answers' Buttons

Hi, I'm currently translating a Captivate 7 project into another language (Russian) from English. I've used the XML export to update the text and have created a new modified widget for the cert. So far so good, but the 'submit all' function which is used in the project is proving very difficult to update.

The settings under 'Default Labels' under the Quiz settings don't cover the buttons in the attached image. This is the answer provided here and elsewhere. It doesn't solve the issue. http://forums.adobe.com/message/5077752#5077752#5077752

We'd like to translate every aspect of the project. If anyone can help that would be great.

When you scrub the timeline, trying to align the playhead with lower objects for example, the window will suddenly display upper layers, making the task impossible.

Is there a way to disable this behaviour ?

CP7 Advanced Action stopped working

I am trying to create a slide that gives answer specific feedback to a multiple choice practice question. To do this I am using the radio button interaction and an advanced action that displays the appropriate text caption box based on the selected answer. It also shows the "next" button allowing the user to proceeed to the next slide upon choosing the correct answer. I have used this method before successfully. It was working properly for this specific slide. Then, suddenly, on one preview it stopped working. Clicking the "Check answer" button has no effect. No text captions are displayed at all.

If you want to see the problem the (unfinished) project is here. Slide 6 is the problem. It should be behaving exactly like slide 4, and was at first.

I'm sure I did not inadvertently change anything about the slide or the action and have checked to see that everything is set properly. I have checked and rechecked the variable and action names for conflicts with other actions. I have restarted Captivate and restarted the computer. I tried assigning a different action to the "Check Answer" button then re-assigned the desired action to try to "reconnect" it. The action was working correctly each time I previewed the project until one time it did not work. It has not worked since. I believe that I only worked on static content slides between the working and non-working previews so I can't see what I could have done to break it. The problem occurs in both Flash and HTML5 and in both previews and published files.

I must have done something but I can't see what. Any suggestions would be most apppreciated.

I am using the latest version of Captivate - 7.0.1.237 - on Windows 8.1
