first thank you very much for helping me,

i am about creating an animated gif like the background you can see in war craft 3 frozen throne for a game,

i have to design it first with high quality so i need to know best adobe programs can do that, although i need to know the easiest, so i need to know both of them the best and the easiest so if didn't made it with the best i can made it with the easiest pro, and please put in mind that i need a program to design the image from nothing so i will draw it or design it i don't know depending on the program it self but i will not use it for editing or use an image already there, i need an elite pro that allow to create the image from nothing.

after that i need to create an animated gif for the image (gif not good for high quality images so if you know better please tell),

for example "Her hair moves with the moving wind" so i need to move it, i don't know how so i need a program to make it move too.

last thing at the end i need the file type be accepted in html(5) adobe games programs like flash builder or flash pro for example, i know flash pro can animate it but will not design it, thank you again.

I'm sorry Adobe, but it's time to re-evaluate our relationship.

You currently get $30/month from me (because I'm a student), and I get access to tons of your tools. But really, the only tool I want and use is Illustrator.

Let's do some cocktail napkin math.... $30*12= $360 per year. In three years, I'll have shelled out $1080. In a decade, assuming the pricing scheme doesn't change, I'll shell out $3600.00.

I'm not a professional, but I do use Illustrator several times a year to make graphics.

I must be the nicest guy in the world to pay you all this money just to use a program that I've grown to like using over the many, many years.

Also, I don't like how your software seems to "take over" my computer. It's like having a little "Adobe suit" running around constantly asking this and that, always wanting to update some program I never use. Always annoyingly "helpful", in my task bar, just begging for a slap down.

But this is it. I'm done with you Adobe. You've repaid my loyalty with price gouging. And now I'm repaying you by never using one of your products, ever again. I will spend the rest of my time as an educator advocating for open source, and warning your potential customers of how expensive and unfair your software prices really are. I'm not one to complain, but when I quietly endure unfairness for enough time, I make one proclamation (like this), and then turn and walk away from your company forever. Good luck with your greedy business model, you're going to need it.

So, hello GIMP (free + vector tools) and Pixelmator ($30), what's happening? I'm fresh out of an abusive relationship with Adobe.

Does Muse have the equivalent of a table?

I need to create a grid (with borders) of pictures and text, just like the old html tables. Does Muse have a widget or feature that creates the equivalent of a simple table? I would like to be able to specify the number of rows and columns and get the equivalent of a table. I would prefer to avoid doing this one div cell at a time or via html. Is there anything built into Muse to do this? If not, what is the best design alternative?

Hi!

For a University project, I have the task of creating a kids' colouring book. It'll contain some other pages than just colouring, but my lecturer suggested Edge Animate to me. It's for an iPad e-book so it can't contain any flash as flash doesn't work on mobile devices.

Would like a switch to embed/unembed file placement in Indesign

I would really like a switch to automatically set the default to link or embed files as they are placed. Right now the default is set to link and there is no way to change that.

Here's my workflow to illustrate why I really need that:

Assembly: When I start designing a document I go into fierce image collection mode. I use my image libraries, I take screen shots (which go in the desktop, and I hunt from elsewhere. In Photoshop for instance, the default is set to embed, just as in Illustrator and I first make the initial images assembly. To have to worry about putting all the images that I want into a folder and decide on that before I've even gone into this initial layout process in creatively counterintuitive, at least to me (maybe others out there). Further, when I use some images from a program such as Realmac Ember (yes I use Bridge but I love Ember as well) I get a real mess -- in this case InDesign links the file to a very obscure hidden folder, which strangely enough almost serves my purposes because the file is seemingly managed without my having to worry about it. But this leads to a bloated hidden library issue, and when I unembed the desired files the copy that was created in the hidden Ember folder is not deleted. If the file were placed and the copy is created right into the InDesign document at placement time I'm guessing this wouldn't be an issue.

Refining: Then I start to go over, move things around, delete some images and only would I like to think about unembedding so I can work in Photoshop editing etc. But by that time I will create a folder to store these unembedded files. Easily 50% of the files should remain embedded and I don't want to have to mess with their file location and management unless I really want to unembed and edit afterwards.

The idea for the switch is to just turn on automatic file embedding at placement time, and to turn it off when you don't need or want that behavior anymore. It's set to be automatically off for everyone who's used to the traditional workflow but people like me can turn it on and off.

InDesign Glitches

This morning I updated my Mac software to OS X 10.9.5, now my InDesign is having more quirks than normal. Does anyone know how to fix the text wraps? Right now the image I'm wrapping shows the wrap but the text isn't reacting to it. I have tried making other text boxes, closing InDesign plus completely restarting my computer. Thanks for your advice!!

Hi!

I wonder if anyone would have a moment to give me a few pointers... I'm a competent amateur photoshop user with a good background in design, and I'm about to create the branding, website and brochure for a small company I'm starting up with my partner. For now I'll just be creating the website using wordpress, weeble or similar as I don't have access to dreamweaver or muse and want to keep the whole process simple to start with.

I'm about to create the logo which I will then use on the website, to create headed paper (for invoices, letters etc), in our brochure, in email signatures, etc. My question is, in what format should I create the logo? If make it as a vector will it size up and down for any purpose? Or will I need both a vector and image version, and if so which should I use where? I'm most proficient with photoshop but I do have illustrator too, though I'm considerably slower using it.

I have been trying to get help with various pieces of software that was purchased with Adobe Creative Suite CS6 (Master Collection). The help is none existent and they don’t care. I sound like a whiner, but the majoring of you know better. It’s crap and the upgrade to CS6 was and is the worst experience of my adult computer experience. I have been with Adobe PageMaker and went through PageMaker 4 (whatever the last # was before CS1) and into CS1 – CS5 and even CS 5.5. I have had problems with InDesign working with xml and Extension Manger with Dreamweaver.

The xml problem was the end of the line. The tech support person who was designated for InDesign had the nerve to ask, “why are you trying to work with xml”. I flipped out. This is part of InDesign that has been with InDesign since CS4 and has made leaps and bounds improvements with CS6. Yes I am trying it for the first time but all the sudden I was the smartest person on the phone.

As far as Extension Manager, I have not been able to use it since I upgraded to CS6. I called tech support months ago. They kept trying to fix the problem and then upped me to the next level. They upped me to the next level. I never got to talk to the 3rd level because they needed to call me, I couldn’t be transferred to them. This lasted for a week. When I called back they tried to help with the same steps I had already gone through. I told them I had already tried what they were doing and didn’t pay any attention. They then upgraded me to the 3rd level because that was I n my records. This happened three times. Once they realized that I should be upgraded they would say that ‘those people’ would need to call. From the last time I talked to tech support about this issue to now has been 3 months. No phone calls. I live and work out of my house and I have an answering service when I can’t answer the phone. I gave then my home /office phone and my cell phone. Told them that wanted them to call my cell because then I would know they called. Guess what, they called my home phone, or I should say that they sent me an email telling me they tried. That was BS because there was never a record of a missed call.

I buy Dell Computers because of the tech support. I always have problems but they are there to help me. In the past, Adobe had the same tech support. That is why I stayed with them and not going over to the other one (we all know who that is). I am now looking for the ‘Other One’ because I am fed up with Adobe.

I can't find a better place at this time to complain so here I am. I am going to post this where ever I can. Please use this as a starting point to get Adobe back on track and get their heads out of the Cloud.

Reasons for employer to buy Graphic Designer a Mac over PC

I am a graphic designer and just started a new position. My employers are wanting to buy me a new computer.

Currently, I am on a PC and the only programs I have to use are CS5 InDesign (no problem, that's what I've used my whole design career) and CS2 Illustrator (GASP!! I had never even seen this version until I started.)

My preference is very much Mac. What are some solid reasons that I should ask them to buy me a Mac with updated software instead of just a new PC?

I'm the newest and youngest person at my place of work, so I'm really wanting to avoid the whole "young entitled designer" thing.

Any comments would be super helpful!

When working at the computer is so importat to rest your eyes and stretch you legs. What do you use to remind yourself to take breaks?

I'd like suggestions, if you have any, for a desktop app that will remind me to take a break! I'd like something with a visual notification. I had a mindfulness timer previously, however eventually the sound just became background noise and I forgot to take my breaks.

I've been reviewing the pros and cons for PDF and HTML for mobile technical documentation and newsletters and wanted to get your honest thoughts on this.

Here's the scenario:

I need to create mobile technical documenation and newsletters that are interactive, i.e. video, commenting/annotating, links, forms, etc.

Given how the mobile publishing market is rapidly evolving, what is the most practical format, (with minimum format issues) to use for both short term and long term? PDF or HTML? Why?

Based on your choice, which format would you use for non-interactive documents that offers the most creative options and usability? Why?

Hi there, just a general question. I have just finished designing a logo for a friend. 4 initial concepts, various changes to chosen logo, lots of colour matching and numerous versions of the logo provided, each of them as EPs, gif, high and low res jpegs and document sized images.

I stopped the clock at 12 hours as I didn't want to charge too much but it took me longer thgsn that, I am charging 10 per hour as mates rates. My question(s) are is this an acceptable amount of time to spend on a job like this? And do you think it's a reasonable amount to charge a friend? I mam new to freelancing and I am conscious I may be a bit slow! Thank you in advance.

Placing large .dxf into AI CS5

When I place a long .dxf into AI CS5 it is scaling the artwork even after I have selected 'original size' in the dialogue box.

This is only happening on 1 computer and it does not tell us this is happening, only found out on printing. On the other computer it is placing even though it is bigger than the workspace and we can then rearrange the artwork to fit in side the space,

I'm assuming it has something to do with the size of the workspace canvas (not artboard, I understand artboards can be resized, I am reffering to the actual workspace canvas) on further research I have found the canvas is a fixed size and cannot be made bigger.

Wouldnt be a problem, except that the .dxf I'm trying to place is longer than the workspace and cannot be scaled.

There is obviously a setting on one computer that is not on the other, but I cannot find it.

I am trying to create a PDF form for a certificate that we as a company need to supply to our clients there is a lot of information to go onto the certificates and i am wondering what are the features and benefits of Acrobat XI Pro and wether it can do what i am hoping it can do.

Padding zeros

I am trying to auto fill a text box to autofill with zeros after a number has been entered. I have a 5 digit requirement and if someone enters the number 3 the autofill would look like this 00003.

I have tried using the scripts posted on the site but I must not be placing the instructions in the correct event, i.e calculate, validate, mouse enter.. I am using Lifecycle designer. Any help would be appreciated.

We use a lot of videos at our church as a segue into sermons or series, and we would love to be able to make our own - not with film or photography, but with animated graphics. Is Flash the product I need? After Effects? A great example of the type of video/motion graphic we're looking to create is right here:

Basically, my plan is to reactivate my lynda.com account and jump right in, but I don't want to spend time learning the wrong product. So my partner and I are arguing about a brochure. Everything except for the front is done, and there's this annoying empty space right in the middle. She says it's unprofessional to ship something with such a large blank spot, I say it's even more unprofessional to add random clip art or something just as meaningless there. I can't add a map since it's web-based and the whole brand image so far has been very minimalistic. Opinions?

Hello there,

I'm a graphic designer who, like many others (I hope), loathes working with the Microsoft Office applications to complete or edit any designs. Getting a Word doc from a client as their 'print-ready proof' will lead to my undoing someday.

I would like to know if there is a way for me to create my designs using the Adobe CS programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, and, namely, InDesign), and also give my client the ability to make text edits once the design is complete without having to use the native Adobe CS program it was built in for editing. To be able to edit the document directly in Acrobat Reader, for example, or something similar.

I'm not well versed, nor do I plan to be, in designing in Microsoft Office applications, and am trying to find a way to bridge that gap between designer and client-in-control.

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone out there usesd a graphic tablet? I was searching for one, but the biggest issue is finding one that is going to work with Adobe products and not just Windows. I am trying to prepare some artwork for a printer, but she has told me that I need to save as curves and outlines as the url strap line and logo within my file was not editable. I managed to save the url text as outlines, but has told me that the logo within the artwork needs to be editable as well. Please could someone tell me how to achieve this? I do apologise if this is a dupe' question - I did search the forums relentlessly for my answer before giving up and posting this!
