Is Adobe Reader X suitable for collaborative work?

Hello,

I am currently evaluating the possible use of Acrobat Reader X in my enterprise.

We use a Documentum Content Server for storing PDF documents (and other formats as well).

I have seen that Lifecycle Connector for ECM may allow using this configuration.

End users will use Acrobat Reader X (no upgrade to XI can be foreseen due to deployment impact) to annotate PDF documents.

Does the Lifecycle Connector for ECM allows starting up Reader X from Documentum TaskSpace (xCP 1) or custom web application to select a PDF file and to automatically check-out, open (with Reader X), annotate and check-in it in a row?

Or is the connection the job of Lifecycle Reader Extension? Or, since we have some web services for check-in/check-out, is it a better option to insert some custom JavaScript in the Reader X menu to access custom check-out/check-in services, sending some parameters such as the object id of a document for instance?

What about concurrent access? Reader XI allows a team to annotate a same document at the same time. Is it feasible with Reader X as well?

How is the annotated document stored into the ECM system? Is it stored as a new version of the document? Does it alter the original document? Does it save the original document and the annotations as separate objects linked by an id?

With Reader X, if two users annotate at a same time a same document, do we know who added which annotation?

In addition to Adobe Reader X, I also perform a benchmark with other solutions for annotations, such as A-Render and OpenAnnotate, which are web-based, but are not available in my enterprise yet. I am trying to figure out if Reader X would be a real added-value, since it is already in the road map of our next deployment.

Livecycle Connector to Sharepoint behind load balancer

In the environment of our customer, there is a load balancer in front of 2 sharepoint servers.

Then the PDF document is uploaded from the Livecycle server to sharepoint (via the load balancer).

However, occasionally it will fail to place the PDF to the folder specified, and placed on the outermost folder in sharepoint.

May we have any hint to fix the problem?

How do I get my XDP form in the SharePoint 2010 Adobe Form library?

I was able to get the Adobe LiveCycle samples for SharePoint to work. For some reason, I can't get my XDP forms to show up in the selection dropdown in the Adobe Form Library on SharePoint using the Adobe LiveCycle SharePoint connector for SharePoint 2010.

Is there a trick that you have to do to the form to make it available. The only difference that I noticed was the sample forms used a guide.

We are using Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES3 and we have Adobe LiveCycle server ES4. We are using SharePoint 2010.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

The latest documentation I can find only goes up to FileNet version 5.0

Hello,

I have a question about the Connector for IBM FileNet in LiveCycle ES3. I properly configured the connector and it wors good, but I realized that there is no way to search document into IBM FileNet Repository, I can store, retrive contents...etc...but not make a search.

At this link I read that in LiveCycle ES2 SP2 was implemented a method that is for this purpose:

the method is: API searchDocumentsByProperty() to search documents inside IBM FileNet (Patch ID: 2.201)

Is it possible to have a similar method in livecycle ES3?

J'ai téléchargé la version trial de Adobe Livecycle ES4, et je tente de paramétrer l'ECM connector pour Sharepoint 2013. Dans la documentation < lc_upgrade_jboss.pdf >, je trouve

une référence à < Adobe LiveCycle Connector-2013.zip >, qui serait créé dans le dossier [racine LiveCycle]\plugins\sharepoint. Or, dans ce répertoire, je ne trouve que le connecteur version 2010. Est ce que le fichier la version trial d'Adobe Livecycle ES4 ne contient pas l'archive < Adobe LiveCycle Connector-2013.zip >? Est-ce une limitation liée à la version trial? Où pourrais-je trouver cette archive?

Versioning problem with LiveCycle forms in a SharePoint 2010 document library

This isn't 100% related to the LiveCycle SharePoint Connector, but this seemed like the most logical place to post.

I am storing LiveCycle forms in a SharePoint 2010 document library. The library includes some columns of metadata and has major/minor versioning enabled with required check-out. I upload a file, set some metadata on the columns and check the file in such that it becomes a 1.0 version. I then check the file out, open in LiveCycle, make changes and save. When I go to check the file back in in SharePoint, the file will be at 0.1 and will have lost all of the metadata values I've added. So it wipes out any previous version history and all metadata.

I'm working in a large enterprise environment for a client and am not the one managing the servers. I am simply a site collection administrator. I know we don't have the Connector but it doesn't seem it would be required simply for storage. I'm not at this point looking for any advanced interactivity between the two. Consequently I have seen this behavior happen with other Adobe files, such as a PSD. So is this a SharePoint problem or an Adobe problem? Is it related somehow to WebDAV?

Anyone encountered this before?

Failed to export the file to Sharepoint if the document library had been renamed

Hi,

We have encounter a problem that we failed to upload the files to Microsoft SharePoint 2007 through the SharePoint Connector.

The document library was initially created as doclibA, and renamed to docLibB

When we configure the connector to upload the document, we found that it failed to upload to the library.

And we have change back the name , and it could upload.

Did anyone got any clue on it ?

Receiving error message when clicking on Adobe Forms Library in Sharepoint

I have set up the Sharepoint connector, integrated with LiveCycle, and I am able to run a small process that results in a flattened PDF form being stored into the Sharepoint repository.

I have know downloaded and deployed the Sharepoint sample that comes with LiveCycle and configured the process as stated in the Adobe Blog. The issue that I am having is when I click on the link, in Sharepoint, that will open up the Adobe Forms Library I am getting the following error message:
