Convert to PDF using base templates

Hi all,

I'm trying to understand how LiveCycle can help me in solving this request.

Scenario:

Users need to print multiple docs formats (docx, xlsx, pptx) to PDF
During the printing an existing PDF template has to be used to add header and footer info to the final PDF
Users will need to choose which PDF template to use for the conversion because any PDF template represent different Company information
A network printer would be the best solution

Any way to accomplish this?

I would also like to know if PDF Generator could then direct the created PDF based on what it contains to various e-mail accounts.

Adobe LCES 8.2 (deployed in Websphere) converts pictures. But throws ALC-PDG-011-029-c0000005 error when converting MS Word documents.

HTML to PDF conversion - Linux

Hi,

We are doing a proof of concept of PDF generator on a Linux environment (RHEL6) .This POC involves conversion of HTML into PDF.

As per the installation documentation, PDF Generator requires Adobe Acrobat XI pro.

Can we use trail version of Acrobat? If yes, Link to download acrobat XI for linux?

I need to convert over 1000 MS Word docs to PDF, and make forms interactive with the following JavaScript or other scripting needs:

40-50 fields per form, link to db connection (SQL)

command buttons to Add New (new record to db), Update (existing record based on field value), Submit (submit saved pdf file to SharePoint site-must create directory based on field name; save file as field name

form fields should be clear on open

I know this is a tall order, but if I could get some direction on code examples, that would be greatly appreciated.

I have created a db connection and coded to add new record, update record and save file to local directory based on hard coded path, but I need more dynamics on creating network path, filename using Sharepoint

When trying to OCR from Livecycle PDFS, I understand they are part of the designer suite for Adobe products and that they contain “interactive” forms and business information that usually contain sensitive information such as PII / PCA data. I’m told that no OCR product works against these types of PDFS while in the interactive mode. And, that in order to make these type of documents searchable they must be TIFF’d and then OCR’d. However, I’m also told that there are only a few products that can TIFF these documents. At this time, I’m told that only LAW can TIFF successfully, but it’s a manual process. If you have any thoughts on this, please share.

Issue generating pdf from xml template, data and StreamServer webservices

We purchased Abode LiveCycle Premium Print ES4. It included a product called StreamServe which we planned to use to merge xml templates and data into a pdf file using a StreamServe webservice (for developers). It seems the StreamServe webservices are not equal to that task. Can anyone offer a hint how this automated pdf generation can be achieved using LCPP? (I suspect it can be done using Workbench but I don't know this to be a fact.)

Hi all,

we have a requirement like, a submission form consist one submit button, when end user clicks the submit button it need to send the data to webservice without pass through the livecycle process. Because my management they were not able to afford the money for that livecycle process. So is there any possiblities without using live cycle server . If it is possible. can anyone tell me the workflow of that. how it will stored the values on our development server(IIS Server) without installing livecycle process on development server. Please let me know is it possible.

Just know, I installed the LiveCycle ES4 and tried to add the import/export feature on my PDF form. Everything was fine, there wasn't any error message. But when I opened the PDF, it showed me:

"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."

Anyone can help me to figure out this issue?

We are rendering Adobe live cycle pdf file inside html object tag.

I have disabled toolbar , navigation bar using navpanes=0&toolbar=0.

But when mouse right click reenable the context menu again.

So Is there any way to disable mouse righ click inside Adobe Acrobat PDF browser plugin?

This seems like it should be a simple task and the free applications such as htmltopdf all do it as an option, but i cannot find an option anywhere on the livecycle server ES4 to enable this. Any help would be really appreciated.

How to make a text field wrap to next page

I've done my best to find the solution to my problem before coming here to post, so forgive me if I've missed a previously posted solution.

I am a .NET coder, using iText to manipulate PDF's. I need to create a template for a corporate invoice that will allow me to have header and footer content on a page, surrounding the invoice detail section and have the invoice detail wrap to the next page as necessary.

Criteria: All pages have the invoice header. All pages have the invoice footer with pagination (i.e. Page 1 of n). The number of pages is controlled by the number fo lines in the invoice detail text field.

For example, if the text field holds 30 lines and each line item takes up a single line. An invoice with 25 line items would only use one page. If the invoice has 35 line items, the content in the text area needs to flow to page 2 in the invoice detail area.

I have tried every combination I can dream up in Adobe LiveCycle Designer and I cannot get a document set up that will flow from page 1 to page 2.

For me to be able to access invoice detail field in code, it appears that it needs need to be a Text Field. I've been able to access the fields from my .NET code and fill them in without issue.

What I cannot get is a template that will allow me to put more content in the detail area than fits on page one and have it automatically create a second page and flow the content into the detail area.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, or provide a working sample PDF?

Blank pdf forms

When I edit a pdf form in LiveCycle and send it to someone, they fill it out and send it back, but it is blank when I get it. Anyone else having these issues?

I am using LiveCycle Designer ES4 on a Windows 7 desktop and saving the file. I then open the file in Adobe Pro XI to Save As Other - Reader Extended PDF - Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in and save)...

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Error when trying to convert excel files to pdf

I'm getting the following error when trying to convert .xls and .xlsx files to pdf, using the "Create PDF" option:

Error message from the primary converter:

ALC-PDG-010-012-PDFMaker reported an error while printing the document.

Word, Powerpoint and Text files convert without any issues. Also I'm able to opent the excel files and convert them to pdf using the acrobat option in excel.

Livecycle Version: 10.0.2, GM

MS Office Version: 2007

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Damaged PDF getting generated when size exceeds 4 MB

Hi,

We have a java application which connects to Adobe LiveCycle server(ver9.0) to generate pdf. It generates pdf successfully when the pdf size is less than 4 MB.

Once the size exceeds 4 MB, the OutputResult object is returned but when pdf is opened says 'File is damaged and could not be repaired'. We checked the result of statusDoc function in OutputResult, but there is no error. Also, in ALC server no error is logged.

MaxInLine Size is 64K.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

How to set PDF version for the output file in ES4

I am using LiveCycle ES4 for converting word docs to PDF. In our client we invoke createPDF method of GeneratePdfServiceClient class. We are using a custom PDF setting in LiveCycle in which we have defined configuration as per the business requirement.

We need the PDF version of the document to be set to 1.4. For this, we are setting the value for compatibility (under File Option) to Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4) in custom PDF setting template in LiveCycle adminui and in Acrobat preferences. Both these setting are not working and the resulting document has PDF version set to PDF1.5. Can you tell me how the version of resulting document be set to 1.4??

Adding reader extended forms to PDF Portfolio using PDFG

Environment: ES4 LiveCycle11

I have a number of pdf forms which I want to distribute to clients as a single PDF portfolio. Some of these forms are editable and have reader extensions applied, the others are just static forms.

First off the editable forms have reader extensions applied using the Reader Extensions web service. Then all the candidate forms are passed to the Assembler Service to create the PDF Portfolio. The following is a representation of the DDX

The PDF Portfolio is created successfully however when it is opened in Adobe Reader (XI) the following message is displayed.

The editable forms are not changed in any way after reader extensions are applied. My expectation was that the individual reader extended files would still be editable within the PDF Portfolio. Am I missing a step, perhaps in the DDX config which is causing the reader extensions settings to be disabled?

I'm using ES3 version 10.0.2, GM. Using the service "HTML To PDF" I saw that the rendering engine is:

mozilla/5.0 (windows nt 6.1; win64; x64) applewebkit/534.34 (khtml, like gecko) qt/4.8.5 safari/534.34

My question: Is there any way to upgrade the service to use newer version of this engine, and if not is ES4 services use newer engine?

Hi All,

While converting .tiff files to pdf files (Through watch folder) it gives this error in the server log file.:

But the converted files are OK and all the files are getting converted.

Please guide me with this issue.

PDF Generator, RHEL and PostScript to PDF

We're beginning an eval of LiveCycle and PDF Generator. I've successfully installed LiveCycle on RHEL 6.1, and everything appears to be configured correctly. (I'm able to load the adminui, at least.) Sure enough, when I browse to the directory there is no .exe file (or anything for that matter) in there. Which actually confuses me a little - why is it trying to run an exe file on a Linux environment? I'm really quite green at LiveCycle and am not sure what information would be useful to provide other than the OS and installed software:

OS: RHEL 6.1

JAVA: 1.6 u45

AppServer: JBoss 5.1 (the one preconfigured with the LCES4 distributable)

LiveCycle: ES4 (11.0)

I'm happy to provide additional information that will help in debugging this issue. (This feels like a misconfiguration on my part, and I hope someone else has gone through this that can provide a bit of feedback.)

UPDATE: I have resolved the issue of the exe not being in the folder specified - was a bad ear deploy. So the executable now exists:

ADOBE® LIVECYCLE® PDF Generator ES4 watched folder error.

I have configured a watch folder to convert .tiff files to searchable pdf files.
It creates a folder for each file converted, (eg: results, results_0, results_1... so on). But all the converted files contain in the results folder (duplicate folders are empty) and it's not in OCR format.

How to prevent creation of multiple folders and how to take the output file in OCR format. Please guide.

I noticed that all of these services are still listed in the Components view in Workbench and showing up as Active even after the module is uninstalled.

You have to manually uninstall the services using Workbench to remove them completely and prevent the errors above.

PDF Creation gets slower and slower

I have designed a simple process to create PDFs from XML files. The problem is the PDF creation gets slower and slower over time.

The process is designed like this:

1) loop on a source XML directory (it contains 3000 XMLs),

2) read (using Read Document activity) the n-th XML file,

3) run a subprocess that creates a PDF (using generatePDFOutput activity) and save it to the filesystem,

4) and so on for every XML inside the source directory.

The main process inputs are:

1) source XML directory path (e.g. C:\my_xmls)

2) destination PDF directory path (e.g. C:\my_pdfs).

At the end of the process I get these results:

1) first 1000 PDFs created in about 8-10 minutes

2) second 1000 PDFs created in about 12-15 minutes

3) last 1000 PDFs created in about 20-25 minutes

I cannot use Watched Folders for several reasons but above all:

1) every 500 PDFs the process sends an email,

2) the source XML directory path may change over time.

Why do the process gets slower and slower?

I use LiveCycle ES 3.

I am using 4 user accounts for multi-thread converting Word documents to PDF in PDF Generator ES3, and I have to update the password of those user accounts. Does PDF Generator ES3 save the password somewhere on the Windows 2008 server? Can I programmatically change the password of those accounts other than updating them manually from LiveCycle Admin console?

We would like to purchase LiveCycle for the PDF Generator feature, but we want to know if it will meet our technical requirements.

We would like to convert a PDF, an HTML, a DOCX, and some custom text into 1 single PDF/A. Basically: joining 3 different files types and some text into 1 very long PDF/A file. Can we do this type of join?

Also, we would like to install LiveCycle on a central server and then call a web service or use an API where we can input the 3 different files and the text and as output we would get 1 PDF/A back. Obviously there might be intermediary steps, but in essence we need to be able to do this conversion from our custom code by calling some LiveCycle API.

Hello,

We want to convert Html to pdf. We are using Adobe LiveCycle service (version 10) and GeneratePdfServiceClient from file adobe-generatepdf-client.jar . There are two possible ways to convert html to pdf:

Html file(with included CSS-content) can be send to the function “createPdf2”.
Packed html content in zip file can be send to the function “htmlFileToPDF”.

We are using both and we get different results (better in case 1).

To make reports more readable we need to solve two problems. Here are my questions:

Is it possible to introduce page number in converted Pdf document? (In CSS "content: "Page " counter(page))
Is it possible to insert page break after/before some Html block? (unfortunately CSS commands “page-break-before”/ “page-break-after” are not supported by LiveCycle )

Is there any way to make Livecycle to support CSS 2.1?

Prepopulate PDF with data from database

Hi,

I have a requirement to prepopulate the PDF with data from database (ex: Invoice Number, Amunt and 'Yes/No'). This then needs to be sent to users to mark the invoices that they have paid (by marking those invoices as Yes).

My question is, is it possible to pre-pupulate the PDF with invoice data that I have before sending to my supplier? also can I dynamically generate one PDF per supplier. Again the list of supplier comes from my database.

Please advise if 'LiveCycle' is the right product to satisfy the above said requirement.

Invalid url \\server1\PDFLiveCycleFolder. Please check for invalid filename characters in the url.

Same path can be accessed from windows explore. What could be the reason?

PDF Generator and Outlook msg files

Hi, I have a question, we are evalutating PDF generator and I am trying to convert .msg files - how do you do this? Doesn't look like there is an option to do this through the interface. Does anyone have experience doing this? I can't seem to fin anything online on doing this.

This is the situation.

I have an old aplication and im needed to print from it (over 80000 files).
This app always print with the same name (ex RP001) so, i cant use a standard PDF printer, because it keep asking to overwrite.

I need to know if LiveCycle PDF Generator can help me with this requirement (automatic change files names or something)

Document Language not exported into PDF when viewed in Acrobat Pro 9?

I've been working on making our PDFs accessible, but it looks like the LiveCycle-generated forms are causing some issues. While I can set the Form Locale in LiveCycle ES (8.2.1), generating a PDF from this and viewing it in Acrobat Pro 9 leaves the Reading Language field greyed out. I'm new to LiveCycle, so it might be something simple (but I've tried Googling everything).

I've tried saving it as both a Static PDF and Dynamic XML PDF form without luck. The Generate Accessibility Information Save Option is checked. I am doing a Save As rather than in-app generation (I understand this can be the cause of some issues).

Help!?

Hello group,

I am totally new to Adobe Livecycle Designer.

I want to add Acrobat (static) PDF form to Acrobat Dynamic XML form.

Is it possible to do that?

Please assist me to combine them.

Else any guideline to add a scan copy to Acrobat Dynamic Form.

TIFF to PDF error

Hello.

I try to convert a TIFF (a scanned document) into a PDF in a workflow using GeneratePDFService\Create PDF.

I get the exception "ALC-PDG-019-060-Encountered error while importing the XMP file".

I see no way to supply such an XMP file !

Does somebody have an idea ?
