Trial of LiveCycle, error when logging into ReaderExtensions page

I have the trial version of LC ES4, alsong with the PFX I retrieved from a zip file on the same download page. When I attempt to login to the ReaderExtensions page I get: "a fault occurred while trying to access the list of Reader Extensions credentials." How can I resolve this? I'm using administrator as user and password for the password.

I have created several forms in LiveCycle Designer ES4. When I send the forms as dynamic PDFs to others to use they are unable to use the documents. The receive an error when they attempt to open the items stating that they must install the Traditional Chinese Language Support Package. There is no Chinese in the forms. They are entirely in English. How can I fix this issue so that my users can view my forms??

We have been using Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES Version 8 to create forms that are used internally within the business, but also externally for customers to complete and email back to us.

We haven't created new forms for a while, but now when we log into the LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server User Interface and try to res a form, it just times out.

It gets to the process status, and then just stalls and says that it's downloading, but nothing actually happens. Any ideas on a fix?

I am interested to know what happens to a PDF that has been Reader Extended with signed Digital Signature (PKI) information within it. In this use case, the document is filled, locked (using PKI signature) and is stored in a suitable document management system.

What happens to the PDF / data after the RE credential expires?
Is it still accessible / readable / printable as a PDF?
Is there a way to archive a R/E PDF with PKI signatures without removing the information?

Major issue with reader extended error message

Good morning everyone,

I've encountered a new problem last couple of days with my PDF forms that were all reader extended either via Server or Acrobat 10 & 11.

All my clients are reporting the following error message:

"This document enabled extended features in adobe reader. The use of the extended features has expired....."

Now my question is that what causes this to pop up? I did research a bit and it does reference a date/time issue, but im getting this issue, my clients are getting this issue.

Is there something else that could trigger this?

Now, to fix it right now, i can re-apply the extended reader function to the document, but that just feels like a band-aid solution as i will no doubt be hit with this problem again in the future.

Are there any other ways to fix this permenently as i do have hundreds of these suckers that will need fixing?

Retrieving the pfx file

Unfortunately, The database which LiveCycleES was using got dropped and i didn't had the backup for the same.

So, I again performed the installation activity of the product using the serial key that i had. But, I don't have the old pfx/p12 file that was used to authenticate in Reader Extension.

Can anyone help me out as from where to get/retrieve the old pfx file.

Reader does a "save as" instead of a "save" on first save of an enabled form

I have a form created using LC Designer and extended using Acrobat (Save As Other --> Reader Extended PDF --> Enable More Tools).

When I enter data using Adobe Reader and File-->Save, it behaves as though I had selected "Save As". If I want to overwrite the file, it prompts me to confirm. From then on, when I save it behaves as expected (i.e. it automatically overwrites the file with my changes). If I close the file and open it again, then make changes, then save, it does a "save as" again.

I don't want it to handle "save" as a "save as". Anyone know a way to avoid this behaviour?

Database Lookup in Adobe Reader

I have an Adobe document that performs a database lookup based on a value keyed into document. It works fine in LiveCycle and Acrobat, but does not work in Reader. From what I've read it looks like I need 'Reader Extensions'. How and where do get this feature?

Is this service available when reader extension service module is installed alone at the server? Or other module has to be installed, like "Form service" module, "process management service" module? Unable to save LiveCycle PDF form in Adobe Reader: Steps on Adobe don't work

I went to follow the steps provided in the help video on Adobe. Two issues I couldn't solve:

How do you login to LiveCycle via the web as an admin? How do you get to the LiveCycle admin portal?
The local host (http://localhost:8080/ReaderExtensions) is unavailable. Every time I try to go there I get a 500 error message page. What is the new local host?

The steps I followed were:

So according to a video on its official website, in order to enable LiveCycle forms in Reader so they can be saved you need an Adobe Reader Extension which means we need a Reader Extension Credential loaded onto the server. For that you need to purchase a Reader extension license from Adobe.

However, there is a trial version Eric or Jay could instal for me on the Remote Desktop. They can find it at:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle.html

They will want to download the “Trial Reader Extensions Certificate” under “Downloads and updates”. It’s a 30 day trial which should work fine for our needs.

The credential then needs to be imported into the Adobe Administrator. To do that they need to:

Login to LiveCycle as an admin (via the web?)
Go to “Settings"
Go to “Trust store management”
Go to “Local credentials”
Click “Import"
- Trust store type should be “Reader Extensions Credential”
- Give it a name (i.e. Alias)
- Browse to credential file
  - .pfx is the credential file
  - .txt is the password
    - Right-click the .txt
    - Click “Open”
    - Copy password from notepad
    - Close notepad
    - Open the .pfx file
- Paste in password copied from .txt file under “Password” in import form
- Click OK

Then there’s something about going to Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions program (http://localhost:8080/ReaderExtensions). Don’t ask. I’m personally lost at this point.

In Extensions program they need to:

Select the Extensions credential
Click the check box next to
- “Basic form fill-in”
- “Import and export data”
- “Submit outside of web browser”
- “Database and web service connectivity”
- “Digital Signatures”
- “Commenting”
- “Online Commenting"
Set “Draft Level” to “Final”
Click the check box next to “Full Save”
“Browse” to the SNAP Survey I created and saved on the server.
Click “Apply”

In new window that appears:

Click “Download”
Save back to the server

Hi. I am using Livecycle designer to create a form that will be modified by a client (i.e. the client is required to enter data into the form). Therefore the client needs to be able to save the form for their records and also submit it back to me. Though, I can't provide extended rights to the client to be able to save the form. How do I provide my client with the ability to save the form (the client only has adobe reader)?

Unable to save pdf form

I have a user that is no longer able to re-save/overwrite pdf forms.

Facts:

He is using Reader XI.
The files are located on our server in a shared folder.
He is able to save his changes to any other programs files in the folder just fine.
Others can save their changes/signatures to the same pdf forms just fine.
When he first created his signature he was able to save his changes for a couple of weeks.
The issue is only on his PC - when he logs in on another PC, he is able to save.
The message he gets states that it may be a read only file or that it is being used by someone else - but it is not, and he only gets that when it is opened from his PC.
I tried removing the signature within Reader.
I tried uninstalling all of his Adobe programs (i.e. Flash, Reader, Air, Shockwave).

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Adding extended rights to third party PDF document & licence

Hi dear support team,

We have the following workflow that should be supported:

1. Person A generates a PDF document within our java application (third party library). The document should contain the editable fields. Some of them are filled with our application.

2. Person A sends the generated document to person B, who fills in the required fields, saves it and sends back to person A.

3. Person A loads the filled document back to our application (optional).

There will be about 0-5 such documents every day.

We have the following questions:

1. PDF document should contain the reader extentions so that person B could save it. What product do you recommend in order to add the extended rights to the third-party PDF document within the java aplication?

2. What licence is suitable in our case? (We already have Acrobat Licence)

3. What costs we'll face?

TRIM, LiveCycle and PDF forms

I am using LiveCycle Designer ES3 to produce a form to which I then applied reader extensions through Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. The users of the form have been using Adobe Reader 9 to fill out and save the form. The form is loaded into TRIM (a records management system. See http://www8.hp.com/au/en/software-solutions/software.html?compURI=1173707) and via a TRIM workflow various users fill it out as required. This was working okay in TRIM until a recent network changeover and this is where the explanation gets complicated.

The form hasn't changed but some users are now on a different network from the TRIM server and these users are also using Reader XI. When trying to get the form out of TRIM to work on it they get a message "This document enabled features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.". Upon opening the form they find it locked down and they cannot make any changes, let alone save them. The thing is the document has not been changed. What has changed is that the document is in TRIM. TRIM is on a different network and the users have to log into it to access it.

I sent a Reader XI user a form via email and they were able to edit and save it. When the user uploaded it to TRIM and tried to open it they received the errror message and were unable to edit the document at all.

Any suggestions or thoughts are much appreciated.

Extending a document in Adobe Acrobat if you have purchased and own LiveCycle Reader Extensions

I work for an organization that has purchased adobe livcycle designer suite which includes Livecycle reader extensions. However we do not really have a need (besides perhaps per the EULA), nor the technical support to extend reader documents using the server based LiveCycle Reader extensions. We will definitly be collecting info from over 500 receipients so per the adobe acrobat license agreement:

16.8.3 For any unique Extended Document, Customer may only (a) Deploy that Extended Document to an unlimited number of recipients, but Customer shall not extract data from more than five hundred (500) instances of such Extended Document (or any hardcopy representation of that Extended Document) that contains data from a recipient; or (b) Deploy an Extended Document to no more than five hundred (500) recipients without limits on the number of times Customer may extract data from a recipient from that Extended Document. Obtaining additional licenses to use Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Adobe Acrobat Suite shall not increase

the foregoing limits (that is, the foregoing limits are the aggregate total limits regardless of how many additional licenses to use Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Adobe Acrobat Suite the Customer may have obtained). For the avoidance of doubt, if Customer purchases another Adobe product or service that allows Customer to send a greater number of PDF files or forms (e.g. Adobe FormsCentral or Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions), then the terms of that Adobe product or service shall supersede the terms of this Section 16.8.3

Given the very last sentence, it sounds me like since my organization has provided me with a copy of LiveCycle Reader extensions I can extend the adobe document using adobe acrobat if I wish, and still be within the terms of the EULA, is this the correct interpretation? I would prefer not to actually use the LiveCycle reader extensions as once again we do not have the technical support, nor the need for this server based solutions.

How to allow attachments on forms saved with Reader Extensions?

How to restrict pdf printing on a condition

Hello,

We generate the pdf and distribute it to the user immediately. I've a business requirement to allow the user to print the pdf a maximum of 3 times. I was able to add the javascript to the pdf to make a webservice call that would keep a track of prints(by getting the pdf blessed by the livecycle readerextensions). Now, I've two questions :

1.How can I disable printing on the pdf document when max number of reprints is reached?

2.The pdf throws security warning when it makes the webservice call. Is there anyway to supress it?

Evaluating LiveCycle for Reader Extensions functionality

Hi All,

I have a technical requirement I am trying to solve. I need to limit printing of a PDF. The PDF is generated dynamically and distributed immeditaly. I have come up with two ideas, both relying on javascript. The relevent approach to this fourm would be to have my PDF blessed with Reader Extensions privledges such that my PDF can make SOAP calls to a listening service that will register prints, then when it exceeds the threshold trigger document.close or a watermark.

With that said I have pulled a trial of Adobe LiveCycle ES4 and have it up and running on a server. I noticed when trying to enable the reader extensions functionallity that I needed some sort of license or credentials. Is there something I am missing in the documentation or the packaging where this evaluation license might be hiding?

With that said I must acknowledge I do see the security risk in having that avalible, which may very well be why I cannot find it. If that is the case, is there anyway to evalute this product?

I have contacted Adobe Sales && 4Point solutions with no help as of yet.

Hi All,

I have created a form which has the function of "export to xml " and "import from xml", and used the trial version of LiveCycle Reader Enterprise Suite 4 to achieve Reader Enable. But trial version has time limit of Reader Enable.

I just need the function of "export to xml " and "import from xml" in my form, and this function should be always effective.

So I want to know which software and how and where can I buy it, how much does it cost.

Are there any technical supports from Adobe, or do somebody has any ideas? Thank you very much!

Can't reader extend with a 256-bit encrypted form

I'm using Licycle Server 8.2 and a form built in Designer 9.0, design protected with 256 bit encryption. When I go to reader extend the file, I am prompted to enter the correct password, I do, but it doesnt unlock. I am then pompted over and over again to enter the password (see screen shot).

Do I have to upgrade the server to 9 in order to reader extend a 256 bit encrypted form?

Hello all,

I've managed to add a Reader Extensions web service reference to my LiveCycle server in Visual Studio. I'd like to Reader extend a PDF but the only documentation I've been able to find uses C# and I'm working in Visual Basic.

Instead of spending too much time 'translating' I thought maybe someone here might be able to point me in the right direction to some documentation that uses Visual Basic as an example for adding Reader extensions through a web service.

I made a form (which I saved as dynamic) and opened in Acrobat to extend its Reader rights (I suppose this is the only way to extend Reader rights, isn't it?).

After extending its Reader rights, I open it with Reader but commenting is not permitted. Why?

I created a custom form using LiveCycle ES2. I am testing the usability of the form in conjunction with Screen Reader Technology (specifically NVDA) in Adobe Professional 9 and Adobe Reader X. The text fields that are read aloud by the Screen Reader while using Adobe Pro, are NOT read aloud while viewing the form in Adobe Reader. Is there a specific solution/adjustment/edit to solve this problem, or is this simply a limitation to using Adobe Reader with Screen Reader Technology?

I'm trying to unlock/remove password on a password protected and reader extended document in a long lived process. Below is the workflow description

A batch process that fires periodically to send service feedback forms to customers.

Long lived process to Gather data ---> Render Dynamic pdf ---> Password Protect (to disable printing and extracting pages) ---> Reader Extend (for saving edited pdf on client machine) ---> Send Email to customer.
Long lived process to Receive feedback via Email endpoint --> Remove/Unlock (?) password ---> Extract data from PDF ---> further operations to update data in tables.

My findings:

Remove PDF Password Encryption (Failed here) ---> Extract data
- Error: ALC-ENC-100-005 You cannot change security on this document because the document is signed or certified or reader extended.: ALC-ENC-100-005 You cannot change security on this document because the document is signed or certified or reader extended.
Remove Usage Rights ---> Remove PDF Password Encryption ---> Extract data == SUCCESS

I have seen a million forum posts where people want to programmatically enable their pdfs for commenting, and the answer is: use LiveCycle. We are considering buying LiveCycle for our server JUST for this purpose, since there doesn't seem to be any other way to do it. Before we do, I want to know how it would work. Since I don't have livecylce, I can't very well poke around and figure it out, and I don't see any free trial downloads. Can anyone explain how you would go about this task? On the other hand, isn't the pdf an open document standard? Is there any way to modify the pdf "under the hood" to enable it for commenting, without using the Acrobat menu item?

Problem Accessing Reader Extension:

When I type"localhost:8080/readerextensions" I got the HTTP-403 Error.

I went to Home > Settings > Core System > Core Configurations

and checked 1.Allow non secured document upload from Flex applications

2.Allow non secured document upload from Java SDK applications.

Now I get HTTP Status 404 - /readerextensions - The requested resource (/readerextensions) is not available.

Similarly I cant access "http://localhost:8080//CoreSystemConfig"

Please help me run Reader Extension.

How/Where/How much to purchase Reader Extensions

No interaction in pdf getting a pop box saying "this document has enabled features in adobe reader..

Hi..

i dont have interaction in pdf..and it is online,when i entered into at text field it throwing a pop as

"this doucment has extended features in the adobe reader.this document has changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available.Please contact the author for the original version of this doucment.."

in my system i have adobe reader 10. is this sufficient or whether i should install acrobatic professional.

Alternate for reader extension

I want to use the capability of loading some input fields of my form at time of rendering either via web service or from database, it's required only for one of the form. Is there any alternate solution for reader extention to achieve this?

Greetings,

I am using ES3 to generate a PDF from and XFA assembly.

It is Reader Extended, has form fill-in and Digital Signature enabled - and a Document Open password.

On occasion, when I recieve one of these documents back - instead of being able to remove the Usage Rights in my LiveCycle process, I get the error above.

Removing Usage Rights, Removing Password, Get Signature Fields all fail similarly.

Unlocking Document does not error out.

Any Idea what is 'wrong' with the document?

Acrobat X Pro has no issues opening and accessing the document

Merge pdf page

Hi everyone !

I would like to merge pdf documents : I have a client who wants to send a PDF to several people. Each person puts his annotations (like comments) into the document.

Then, I get all pdf (always the same, with several comments) and merge it in one PDF with all comments.

I thought I was able to do it with a simple DDX file, but I can't find a way to do it !

How can I do it ?

Hello experts

I have just installed Windows x64 turnkey version of LC server.

I got some errors during installation (admittedly I should have make a note of these, sadly I havent) however these were not particulary descriptive so I have decided to continue and see if I will be able to fix these later.

At the moment I only had a look at admin console (seems to work fine) and I tried to launch Reader Extensions module but latter does not want to start. After logging in I am presented with following message:

Application alert

A fault occured while trying to access the list of Reader Extensions credentials

and subsequently I am being logged off.

I tried to find the cause of that issue in Trust Store to no avail.

Can anyone help?

Hi ,

I am using livecycle designer ES and livecycle reader extensions es to create some PDF files. I want to use the new feature action builder, so I downloaded the designer ES3. After creating some new files, I tried to use livecycle reader extensions es (old version) to convert the file to add the saving function to adobe reader. It could not convert the file successfully and stuck at downloading the file page as the attached screen. Does that mean I have to upgrade livecycle reader extensions es to es3? Thanks in advance.

Hi Everybody

I want to know about the installation of Adobe Reader Extension Server. I have Adobe LiveCycle ES2 service pack installed into my machine. Now, i want to install Adobe Reader Extension ES3 into my machine.

I want to know, will it be work with my machine? Will Reader Extension ES3 be compatible with LiveCycle ES2 service pack? Is there any way to use Reader Extension as trial version?

Please help me in this regard.
